wall hung toilets

A while back someone posted a bathroom in a garage with what looked like a regular two piece toilet/tank except it went on the wall with a rear discharge..
I found one made by American Standard - but i'm trying to understand the installation and the "wall carrier" (can't find it)

I'm not talking about the euro type with the tank and carrier in the wall -- I am putting them in my new place ... these are cheaper as the tank is on top of the bowl -- like a standard US toilet. This looks like a good way to install a 1/2 bath without getting into cutting the existing slab .. and I like the toilet off the floor.

Anybody install one or remember the post?

Most are commercial and do not have a tank, but some do. Google images is great for finding stuff.

Just go to Google and select "images" then "wall mounted commode" and you get all kinds of pics. One of those web sites is bound to lead you somewhere. Looks like some, Toto for instance, has a unit with the tank inside the wall, and a fancy steel frame that bolts into the wall structure. It will take a substantial wall structure to support a commode with a 250 lb guy on it.

When I did mine it was a simple deal of putting the wax ring on and the Johnny bolts. The critical dimension is the height of the flange so that the toilet sits firmly on the ground where you bolt it down. The toilet came with explicit instructions.

The OP is referring to a wall mounted commode that does not contact the floor.

American Standard makes one that does not look too clunky -- I don't want one that sits on the floor or you one can see the pipe in the back. I'm trying to find the AS wall carrier model number so I can see how much and installation.

The ones I am putting in my house -- have the tank in the wall -- so all you see is the bowl .. they end up being 1k .. bit too expensive for a garage/ back yard toilet.

I have one of those pressure assist toilets --- not a wall mount ...... regular floor set up ...... They will **** you in. We need it because we have a strange drain setup.

I cannot find a AS tank type wall mount other than the Glenwall pressure assist.

Install instructions for the Glenwall

Glenwall spec sheet

Web page with interesting statement...... "Requires wall carrier to be supplied by others."

In other words, they do not make a wall carrier for their toilet.

The Cadet is apparently a pressure assisted flush also. Found this listing in the Glenwall section... "738473-XXX0A - Trip Lever assembly for Cadet, Estimated List Price: $5430.00"

thought it kinda expensive for a flush trip lever.

From the Q&A section of the Glenwall web page.

And the rather lame AS response.......

You would need to contact the carrier company to get these nuts.

Can this model of American Standard toilet with wall discharge be purchased with a standard gravity operated flush tank instead of the Flushmate pressure-assisted model?? If so, what is the price? Also, can a pressure assist model be converted?

AS response...

No, tanks can not be switched as they will not flush properly. You also can not convert a pressure assisted toilet into a standard toilet.

I nee an American Standard Wall mounted toilet with a regular round bowl. Cannot be elongated

AS answer

If you are looking for a wall hung with a standard tank and round front bowl we do not offer one like that. The glennwall is the only one we offer with a tank and it only comes with an elongated bowl.

Wall carriers are apparently a big secret. Can find very little about them........
