What's a good wall mount (possibly oscillating) fan for a two car garage? I see northern tool has some for around $99 but most of the reviews say they are noisy and vibrate quite a bit.

I have used drugstore oscillating fans with success for years.
Never a wall mount.
Just sitting on a cabinet in the corner.
They work fine for about 5 to7 years and then need some cleaning and oil
I would guess a shelf would not be that hard to build.

I've been researching wall mountable oscillating fans for my garage as well, and I keep going back to the 20" metal high velocity Lasko fans at around $65 each. Wall mounting is achieved with a heavy duty bracket that allows you to hang the fan using the floor stand so it's easy to put the fan back on the floor if needed. These fans are noisy, too, but they do seem to move a lot of air which is what I'm really after. And since I'm likely the mount these fans high on the walls, I'm looking a fans with remote control. I'm buying two fans to start with maybe a third if needed.

It's been recommended elsewhere, but ceiling fans simply aren't an option for my garage. I'd destroy 'em in a week simply by moving my long handled gardening tools around.

I picked up a wall mount oscillating Dayton Air Circulator fan from eBay a few years ago. It is a 20 inch or so fan with a cast aluminum blade. It is very quiet for the amount of air it can move. These types of fans were commonly used in churches before the days when AC was readily available. These are a great option when floor space is precious.

I think the eBay seller was selling items that were returned to Grainger. The fan I bought needed a replacement switch, a very inexpensive repair. If searching on eBay, use "air circulator" in your search and you will get a lot of hits that you might not get using "fan".

For the best price, buy fans in wintertime. There are no deals in the summertime.

I got a Royal Cove fan from Amazon and so far it works well, it's fairly quiet and moves a good amount of air. I just stuck a couple scraps of 2x4 together and hung it form the bottom of my shelves in the corner.
Fan 1
Fan 2

I think it was less than the $70 price shown now, my wife bought it for me for Christmas:

Another option, a loading dock fan. These are mounted on an arm that allows the fan to be focused on a particular work area. They are made by TPI ,Fostoria and I am sure other companies.

I like how rcktpwrd got a wall mount out of a table top fan.

In my experience, if you leave them run 24/365 they get a circulation going that will survive a garage door opening.

I had a Hunter non-Oscillating fan for 12 years or so. It had a lot of use including, drying part of our basement after flooding, in my garage, in our sprint car trailer at the track etc.

The key to longivity is keep the motor CLEAN ! using a air blow gun and once per year I would use a garden hose to spray it clean, BUT saftey first, blow it DRY ! Even leave it sit for a day or two. Never had a issue.

For my single stall garage, I'm looking at this one.
It is not a oscillating fan, but intened to use it to circulate both air from my window air conditioner and heater in winter.

All kidding aside, I guess you COULD use a 1903 GE fan, but a bit nice for garage duty. I use a 1950s GE Vortalex. 16", oscilates, moves a lot of air, and way "cooler" than any new Chinese fan you can buy today, for about $75-$150, depending on condition. This one is not mine, but I have the same model. It will wall mount.

I have a Global Industries 30" oscillating wall mount fan. It'll set you back $135. I mounted it with a French cleat. Not excessively noisy and no problems with vibration. Pushes a lot of air - my dogs love it.

Mounted a cheap floor fan to my ceiling (walls are full). 1x6 with a pivot point so I can aim it as needed. Effective, cheap, and easily replaced.
