I have the 8500 shaft mount. Not sure what the difference is, but my door is the same size as yours. I have had it for 5 years, so far, so good!

Just make sure your door is working well before installing the unit. Lube it up and get the balance good. If you are fighting with the door, the opener will too. Just remember the internal gears are all plastic so they won't take any abuse like a commercial one.

There are a couple threads on the 8500 and similar. I hope the 8900 is better.

The 3900 has been out for years. I have the 3800 and my memory recalls there is minor differences. The 8500/8900 are the newer model.

I can't remember which model I have. I think the 8500. I had a new insulated door and the opener put in about a year ago. It's amazing. I love it and should have done it years ago. I removed my standard opener a while for clearance and it's been so nice having a powered door again.

It is not the size of the door that matters. It is the weight that the opener lifts. My two largest are 12x16 and insulated. I called lift master and verified which unit would work best. I recommend you do that also.

If you are shopping for an 8500, make sure to get newer the 8500W. The difference is more than just WiFi. Antenna is in the head, wall control is better, lifts heavier doors, better LED light pod, etc. I really like mine.
