Ok I have 3 10x10 insulated “commercial” doors. I am trying to pick out wall mount openers for. The problem I’m haveing is all have a bunch of features I don’t need. They all have terrible reviews also. Does anyone have some recommendations?

I recently installed (6) Liftmaster 8500's. Love them. Best prices are on Amazon but look for occasional better deals on Ebay- nominally around $599.

I think the 8500s are still around but the 98022 might be the updated version...

(I have had a pair of 8500Ws since 2021 and they have been flawless.)

Look on EBay, I found new, simple Genie wall mounts for $400 each. I bought 3 of them.

This is correct the 98022 is the replacement I just put two of them in. Note when installing make sure you have the motor setting correct for your type of door.

Not sure about Genie but there are a lot of scammers selling Liftmasters on eBay. You'll get the opener but it was purchased with someone else's stolen credit card. There are legitimate seller but their prices are usually worse than home depot.

I bought my 8500W in 2017. I use it at most once or twice a week. Installation was easy but the associated light failed (always on) in 2020? even though I always used an incandescent bulb per Liftmaster instructions.

The opener itself works fine as does the external keypad and remote. Door operation is smooth and quiet and all the safety controls work properly.

There was so much **** on the internet around programming Homelink in the car (is it or isn't compatible with the Liftmaster remote) that I never tried it, which is on me.

I guess you never reached out to Liftmaster about the broken light. Their support is beyond excellent. Not many companies left like them. Pretty sure if you called you would have a new light by next week.

There's another Liftmaster thread here on GJ that made it sound like support wasn't all that good, so I bought another light as someone was selling a New In Box (NIB) one fairly reasonably, but of course it's on my todo list.

eBay scares me to buy nance brand expensive items, coming from automotive hobby’s (fake msd stuff) I wish lift master still made the 8500 as it’s simple and that’s all I need. As soon as you add commercial to the discription it is simple but dibbles in price

I agree with you about electronics "features" / complexity that I don't want or need. I disable or don't use features like motion detectors, wifi, battery backup etc, but lots of people do like and use them.

I will need another opener someday in the not too distant future, and so far I haven't found a clear winner in the residential jackshaft opener space.

I had the door controller fail at least five years after buying it, they sent me a new one. Bought another opener last year and the remote kept eating batteries. They sent me a better remote that works with all my openers because it the one in my kit was OOS. Both issues resolved on first call after about five minutes of hold.

I have 2x 8500's that are 7 years old now. They are great. You can usually still find a few on Ebay. Everything I've seen says the Liftmaster/Chamberlain replacement, RJ0101 is just as good. I've also seen some of their commercial openers on Marketplace and Craiglist before, but even used, are pricey.

I’ve got the new 98022 on an 18x10’, 2” insulated door and it’s been great so far. Only a few months on it though. Install was easy.
