Hey guys, I've been lurking for a couple of years now....what a great forum.

Anyways, I've got a 2.5 car insulated garage and I'm adding an Air King 30" 1/4hp oscillating wall-mount fan ($175 @ discountcleaningsupplies.com). The garage has a standard 16' double door with a 36" entrance door right next to it. All of the windows in the garage are fixed and the ceiling is 11' tall. I'd post a pic but my camera died on friday night.

I know my situation isn't ideal and I'm probably just going to blow 7400cfm of hot air around but......would you mount the fan on the same side as the garage door or on the opposite wall blowing towards the garage door? Due to space limitations I'll need to mount it fairly close to the ceiling.

Thanks for your opinions/thoughts.

In the garage
I am thinking about mounting an oscillating as well. i performed several validation studies. I took an old box fan and placed in different locations in my garage and recorded the air movement. The distance behind the oscillating fan is very important. I have come up with the optimum location for my garage.

I would mount it towards one of the back corners...that way it can help blow dust or smoke out of the garage....

And it you can make it oscilate...even better...

Appreciate the help guys. I need to take the time and do as Volkyrican suggested, do a validation study for my environment.

I was actually looking for a ceiling mount oscillating unit but the 1/6hp 20" ceiling-mounts where $75 more than the 1/4hp 30" wall-mount I bought. Since it produced almost twice as many cfm it seemed like a no brainer.
