Wall-mounted fans-options?

Hi everyone! I am looking to add two fans to my garage soon. I am looking at something wall mounted and prefer something that oscillates. I would like something made of metal versus the cheap plastic fans. Does anyone have opinions on good quality fans that will last?

Any thoughts on this fan?

Thank you for your thoughts! Chad

Don't know if it will be an issue for you but it looks like it may be hard to reach the on/off switch if you mount it at a typical height for a wall fan. Mine is a circular fan and has the switch on the bottom edge of the housing and it's still a reach for me.

Good thought but I will run the cord down with the plug-in at chest level, so on/off shouldn't be a big issue. I am also keeping an eye out on some antique fans as well. They may be a good option!

I'd go get a couple of old fans at a flea market or garage sale. An old Emerson fan from the 40's will do the job. Some antique fans are expensive. A non-brass bladed fan can still be bought for $20 or less. Save yourself a couple hundred bucks for 2 fans. And you wouldn't be buying a Chinese made fan.

I would be somewhat cautious here. An 'antique' is fine for display purposes but to have one plugged in to your electrical system for day to day use may end up causing problems. An electrical device with 30-40 or more years old internals, and having already lived a long life of who knows how much use/abuse may not be the way to go. Particularly if it was manufactured before U/L came into being. Maybe a reproduction might be safer.

I did this using a floor standing fan the inlaws were going to throw away. The support rod was in two pieces so I took off the bottom half and attached the rod to the beam across my garage. The fan oscillates so it gives me plenty of coverage....but then again....it doesn't get that warm in California....

Side note....my garage actualy stays quite nice all year round. With the second floor as a buffer....and insulation in the ceiling....as well as drywall on all the walls....it's a very comfortable place to work in all year round.

I got two of the regular dock lights cheap on e-bay. Plan to pick up one of these to go by the lift.

I just bought the 30" version of that Flow Pro a few weeks ago. I went in for the 20", but they don't carry it in store, and the site says it is on backorder for 30+ business days. I am really happy with it. The on/off switch is a pull chain, I went to Lowe's and got a length of bead chain to extend it to within arm's reach from the floor. I would highly recommend it. Easy to install, works great.
