Wall Mounted Pressure Washers

Hey guys,
I've been looking around at the auto geek website and have been seeing quite a lot of electric pressure washers mounted on shelves in the garage.

My question is 2 part

Part 1: Are they installing drains and washing their car inside, especially professional guys, and is there any effect on the dry wall and ceilings, due to overspray and moisture.

Part 2: Are they running the water to the pump off of internal house plumbing, or stretching a hose into the garage, and what do you think of the quick connect fittings for the hoses because I'm supposing they are using a standard garden hose.

I like the idea of a small electric pressure washer and hose reel mounted solid just not sure of how to do the plumbing and electrical parts of it.

This is my electric PW I installed just inside my garage door when I built my house 25 years ago.


It's a five HP Baldor coupled to a General TT9091 pump. Stationary mounted and plumbed to a swinging overhead boom for washing cars.

I have not seen that before. That is cool. How about tying the pressure washer outlet into a manifold (like air piping) so you can use a quick disconnect hose with wand at different locations? Would be useful for me as I wash the cars in the driveway and hose the jeep off in the yard (keep the mud out of my driveway). Curious to see other people's methods.

In my case, I have a Karcher unit on the floor and a pressure hose reel on the wall above. The water was already in the garage as was the electric. The Karcher is likely 10 years old and developed a leak when it's connected to water so I suppose it's good that its mounted to the floor.

I don't wash cars in the garage as I have no drains. This attached garage is in a split-level house, so the ceiling isn't very high. When I rehabbed the garage, I installed slatwall from the ceiling down....and used (what I think they call) tile board from the floor up. Meaning, the 4x8 sheets were laid down on the 8' side and the slatwall comes down over the edge. What I am called tile board is the thin sheets of paneling that looks like a wall of tile. I used the smooth white kind so it can be wiped off. You can also get a plastic type of wall covering like they use in public bathrooms, etc.

I'd say any water contact with the sheetrock would be bad, so an Indoor unit with a long hose would be nice as long as it doesn't leak.

At my first shop set up, my (Hypro) pressure washer was wall mounted above the vise. Both water and power came through the wall, so it was a permanent installation. It never froze in there, that little baseboard heater was enough to keep that from happening. Just turn on the water and roll out the hose and you were ready to go....a big plus for winter wash offs. That interior shop picture was taken before the pressure washer was installed.

Here is my set up. I have a quick release on the hose and just run it into the garage to the pressure washer.
