I am slowly making progress toward upgrading the space in my garage to a much more usable space, with a place for everything and everything in its place. I enjoy spending time washing and detailing my cars and I always dreaded dragging my wife's vacuum cleaner out to the garage when it came time to vacuum the cars. I spent some time on the internet researching garage vacuum systems and decided to purchase one from MetroVac (of New Jersey).

The vacuum arrived last week and I played with it a day or two, before mounting it on the wall in the garage. The vacuum comes with a wall mounting bracket but it is kind of mickey mouse, so I enhanced the mounting with two large velcro straps. The straps made it nice and secure, but I can still move the vacuum to my 3rd car garage if I need to.

Here's my feedback on the vacuum after having it and using it for several days:

- The vacuum has excellent power. The sucking power is sufficient for the carpet and upholstery in my cars and general cleanup work in a garage.

- I love the 30 foot long hose. I can leave the vacuum on the wall and reach the cars in the driveway easily.

- I like the small / tiny accessories that can be used in detailing the interior of a car. They are especially nice for reaching into small areas, or vacuuming air vents, or little cracks and edges around a car's console, etc.

- I do not like that the accessories with the vacuum do not fit well with the vacuum hoses. This is extremely disappointing for a $400 vacuum! It's very frustrating to constantly be searching for which attachments will fit on which hose ends. It's so bad, I know that I won't use most of the attachments provided as I would spend 10 extra minutes trying to find the right hose end. (Some of the attachments simply don't fit on any of the hose ends properly!)

- The other major disappointment is - I purposely bought the Commercial Series Vac N Blo model so that I could blow my cars off after washing them, but this is not practical at all, as the hose fitting is very difficult to put on and off the main vacuum. If I was to do this frequently I would be concerned about snapping off either the port that ***** (one end of the machine) or the port that blows (on the opposite end of the vacuum unit).

All in all, I like the unit but I feel I am disappointed that I overspent for a feature that I cannot even use. I know I will get lots of use out of it in the coming years, and my wife is happy that I no longer drag her vacuum out to the garage or on the driveway.

One other point to consider - while the 30' long hose is great, you must consider how much space it will take when deciding where to mount the machine. I found it best to make really long loops with the hose and that worked out well.

We had a central vac in our house... plumbed a line to the garage, loved it. Took regular 1 1/4" accessories.

I have a wall mounted vacuum cleaner bought from crazysales. It seems this kind of vacuum cleaner becomes more popular than robotic one. In spite of the short battery life, it is really portable and convenient in using. It can be easily stored, good for floor cleaning and car cleaning.

On the blower side, assuming hose to hose connection possible, could you add a very short section of hose and leave on machine for connecting?

Not sure of the fitting size issue-I thought it came with 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" fittings with an adapter to use 1 1/4". Separate storage or marking/coding?

edit-just noted this was 4 months old
