Wall mounting bracket for air hose reel

I need to attach an air hose reel to my garage wall. The wall is drywall. The hose reel is heavy enough that I am going to have to really secure it to the wall studs and spread out the load. I am looking for ideas for a wall bracket with maybe a shelf above it? I'd like to build it out of wood as I don't weld. I'd like to mount this above my floor compressor. Does anyone have a cool setup they would like to share? I am looking for ideas. Thanks.

I just bolted mine to a scrap 2x8 with four bolts. The lumber is about 22" long and is lag bolted to the two studs. That spread the weight over the longer footprint provided by the lumber. Hasn't fallen on my head yet.

Make a shelf with a back apron underneath that will span a couple of studs. Support the shelf ends with two wood triangles attached to the apron. Mount the hose reel to the apron under the shelf. Simple to build, too.

or mount a 3/4" plywood backer plate to the wall (stud to stud) and then mount the reel to THAT.

I just did the 3/4 plywood to mine. It's next to the compressor so I had to move it once for more clearance (lower so the compressor could move closer). Would like to have a shorter connector hose than 25ft. Suggestions?

I used 3/4" plywood for mine too, with bolts and washers.
I also put 3/4" spacers behind it, in line with each stud, to give clearance for the nuts/washers. The gap behind the plywood is perfect for hanging accessories like air nozzles and tire fill/gauges.

I picked up a bunch of whips from HF in 3' - 6' lengths.

Available in the electrical section of your local big box store. Mount the strut to the wall then mount your reel, regulator/filter and you distribution pipe to the strut.

I will be fabricating up a huge 90* piece with supports which will be screwed to several studs as so the reel will spin parallel to the wall that flanks the big door.

Thick piece of lumber to span the studs. Long lag bolts into the studs. Heavy bolts and nuts attach the reel to the wood.
