Hey all I am moving into my place soon. 2 car (20 x 20). Picked up the Taupe Epoxy-coat at Lowes. For the walls, I have the following envisioned in my mind. Charcoal gray bottom (about 42" up), almost a Tangerine/Burnt Orange 9" separating strip, Taupe color for upper walla and ceilings.

What do you guys think? I am going for something extremely clean, classy, and easy to do. My goal and entire feel for the garage is minimal, yet clean and elegant. I am going to be doing a lot of detailing in here.

How many gallons will I need? I want the least expensive brand possible to please help out with that! Pictures appreciated of garages similar to mine!

One thing that I would be carefull of is to not get the cheap paint if it dont cover well. As it will cost more in both time and money as you will have to apply more coats to get a decent finish

I think a gallon of paint is supposed to do 400 sq feet of wall. Seems like I usually use a most of a gallon of paint for an average 10x10 room in a house. So for your 20x20, figure a gallon of each wall color and a quart of your stripe colors. It would be a good idea to prime the walls first. Don't forget to post pics.

Just got back from HD. I have my first set of colors picked out. The brand is Glidden. Now I have some questions for you all.

I was thinking semi-gloss, but it's $22/gallon and I didn't want to spend that much. Any other brands out there that are cheaper yet don't lack in quality?

How many gallons will I need? I want the Orange stripe to be about 42" from the bottom of the wall. That being said, the gray will be the bottom, and Tan on the top as well as the ceiling. As mentioned, it's a 20 x 20 garage. How many gallons of each color for good coverage?

Do you guys like the colors? I am not married to them by any means, but this is basically the scheme I am after. I wanted a darker gray, more of a charcoal, but then thought this would darken up on the walls. Thoughts please?

The last thing I want to do is make my garage look cheap and tacky. I want a rich, modern, and clean look and feel. I think these colors will do the trick to be honest.

What texture or sheen should I go with if I am doing the Exopy-Coat with o clear coat on the floor? I was thinking either Satin or Semi Gloss because I want it to be easily cleanable.
Please

Please give some feedback on these items. They will help me obtain my target goal for the "Clean Garage" as I have denoted it.

Pony up and buy good paint if you are planning on colors other than white.

300 sq ft per gallon is a good rule of thumb.

To tell how many gallons you will need you have to provide us with the wall height and the garage door sizes and man doors and window sizes.

Those colors look great.

My only piece of advice would be to wait until you've got the floor done to make the purchase. See how chips of the colors look on the floor once it's dry. You can't change the floor, so you want to make sure everything looks good together before you pay for the paint.

Buy good paint. I paid $24 a gallon for paint for my garage.

Most garages are only three walls anyway because the door is a "wall". You are probably looking at a max of 3 gallons of paint for the three walls, and you'll have lots left for "touch ups".

X2 on what has already been said. I'm going through the same process and going with the same colors (except for the orange) and it looks like you got a solid plan. for the paint, I used Kilz primer for all of the walls (2 gallons) as it primes really good and is an extremely bright white (reflects the lights really well), I call it mental patient white. for the gray, I found a gallon in the ooops paint for $5. and that's enough to cover the lower portion 42".
I'll go back to the oops section and see if there's a blue color that I like.

Well, the ceilings on the garage are 8ft high and its A 20 X 20 garage. I am going to have the walls textured in skip trowel to match for $150 which I think is a steal. The day after that gets done, I am going to paint and then do the floor a day or 2 later.

I am not too concerned if the upper portion of the walls matches the floor exactly, its a Taupe color, so I think it will match up pretty good. Now, if I was doing a Taupe color for the bottom half instead of the gray, I would be a bit more worried because it is closer to the floor, hence making it easier for the colors if mis-matched to be more noticeable.

At any rate, I think I am going to go with the Glidden paint as I have mentioned in Semi-Gloss. I also am pretty confident in my color choices.

So, just to confirm, you guys think I can get the bottom half with 1 gallon, correct? And just to be safe, get a gallon for the stripe, and 2 gallons for the upper portions, correct?

Do I really need primer guys? I am having the professional come in a texture. My plan was just to do nice, even coats and take my time, making sure not to miss any spots.

Couple questions regarding supplies:

I have a 9" cage and a 6 ft. metal extension. As far as rollers go, what nap and size should I run? My dad is going to help me; would it be wise to pick up another cage, roller, and extension? Will I need more than 1 roller per person, per color? Sorry for the stupid question, but how many rollers do I need?

I am doing all of this on a very tight budget (fiance giving me a rather short leash on this on to be honest) but want to do it right as cheaply as possible.
