I seem to have hit a roadblock. I have 5/8" drywall on my walls with the 4 x 4 220 boxes behind it. The front of the 4 x 4 box is flush with the front of the stud. The problem is, the box sits back 5/8" due to the dry wall. Any options besides mudding a plaster ring to the box? Does anyone sell extensions?

I dont understand what you mean by mudding a plaster ring to the box.

Install a plaster ring of the appropriate thickness to the box, mount your device to the plaster ring, and install a flush cover (I am partial to stainless covers in this application)

Sorry if I was not clear. The problem I have is that the cover (solid) that goes over the junction box is smaller than the hole in the drywall. I figure I'll have to mud around the edges of the plaster ring to build it out to wall dimension.

you could do that or just make your own cover extension out of wood or small piece of thin sheet metal.

do you have a cover with a hole in it that the device mounts to, and that cover mounts to the box? Or are you using a plaster ring and a cover. Can you post a picture? Unless your hole is alot bigger than the 4S box, a standard flush cover should cover the drywall. Sounds like you are trying to use a surface mount cover.

Those blue and metal boxes seem like they would do the trick. Any idea where to get them?
