Wall Sheathing at Trusses

I’m working on installing the final row of sheathing on my 16x28 garage. My question is, does the sheathing go all the way up to the bottom of the top chord of the trusses, and nailed to the **** ends of the bottom chord? Or do I stop it at my top plate? Does it matter, is a question of how much venting I want through the soffits? My thought is going all the way to the top and nailing into the trusses would tie everything in better, just want to make sure there are not consequences I’m not considering.

I plan to add a 2x6 facia board, and vented angled soffit.

Appreciate all the help from this forum.

We run our sheathing to the top of the double top plate.

Your soffit system then seals off to the sheathing.

The "vertical gap" at the truss heal is used for the roof passive ventilation system with ridge vent. String line your truss tails and scab as needed to install your cornice.

I’ve always seen sheathing stopping at top of top plate. You should have some sort of hurricane clips to tie trusses to top plate though.

Timberlock or other rated screws.
Hurricane clips from the inside. Easy to see during inspections. Even with soffit complete which is needed to make it “weather tight” for inspection (unless your AHJ allows partial inspections prior for concealed methods).

We haven’t used the screws in lieu of hurricane clips at the day job.

Fastenmaster is recommending their FrameFAST for trusses now due to superior uplift and lateral properties compared to their timberLOK screws.

Appreciate the input. I did use Simpson truss screws instead of the brackets. May still add a few of the brackets since they came with the trusses. Will stop the sheathing at the top plate. Getting closer, hoping to have the roof on this week. Had been mostly solo until now, subing out the roof.
