Well, after lurking for a couple of months on here and getting some great ideas, i have to solicit some advice on my forever ongoing (d*&^ contractors) garage project.

For wall storage, i'm considering either a generic 'slatwall' product, 'durawall' product (solid extruded plastic i think), or 'Storewall' (the more expensive solution). In addition to the cost of the wall panels, there is significant expense with hooks as well, especially in more proprietary products (Storewall). I understand some generic hooks can be used on the Storewall and similar products due to basically the same design/slot spaces, but am not clear on what works or does not work. I like the look of these products and despite the cost, look substantially better than pegboard.

I'm curious on your experiences with any of these or similar products on the market in terms of bang for the buck, ease of installation (i have block walls, but will likely fur out), and durability/ease of use. I'm not conviced that Storewall ($5 p.s.f. panel only - best price i can find) is worth that much.

As a side note, i'd recommend Bill West's book 'Your Garagenous Zone' - it has some great ideas. When i emailed the author for some further information, i had a phone call back within 2 hours! Talk about customer service! (no affiliation).

Thanks in advance for your comments!

I've been lurking too. This is one of the problems I had trouble in deciding. If you are looking for a wall storage system and are somewhat handy, this may do the trick for you.

I will do this in my 2 car attached garage and for my 2 car detattached, well I'm still trying to figure that all out. I do have a 1 car size attached workshop so hopefully I can keep everything clutter free.

Ok, looks like the "Devil" did his job. Thanks, I'm not sure what I did wrong, but it just worked for me.

What I tried to do in my garage was to get everything in a cupboard of some type. I bought the cheapest kitchen cupboard available, and painted them to match my tool boxes. The slot board I used around the top where there were no wall cupboards doesn't get used very well, but it looks good. The less you see, the less clutter you have.

I acquired used MDF slatwall for free and I don't know what brand it is. It has aluminum reinforcement in the slots. Many panels are broken. It looks like they aligned with something that looks like the "footballs" used to plug plywood defects, but about 5" x 1 1/2". The panels are 2'W x 4'H and 3" spacing of slots. 1. What brand may they be? 2. Are the "footballs" available? 3. Have you put something like this up and how did you handle the heavy fragile panels? Any helpful communication is appreciated.
