Hi,
I have been a lurker and now a poster. I am installing a Hot Dawg heater. I am venting through the wall horizontally. This will be quite a short run. 1' out from back, 90 turn to wall about 29", 1/4" pitch drop, through thimble and out maybe 18" with rain/wind cap on the end. This is a 6" wall with vinyl siding. A couple of questions. The thimble while adjustable for a 4-6" wall looks like on a good day only goes to about 5 1/2", the stud is 5 1/2" alone how do you guys handle this? And on the outside of building do you slide the thimble right up to the vinyl or handle this differently as well. Love to hear your comments and better yet would love to see a picture or two. Thanks for the forum I have learned a lot so far. I just want to do this right and do this one time.
Thanks,
Foamer

I had the same situation when installing mine. I bough a small sheet of 22 or 24 guage metal at the local farm store, then rolled it into a tube and cut it to just under the thickness of the wall, slid both ends of the thimble onto that.
