Does a pipe have to go straight thru or can it be angled or does it matter?

What do you fill the gap with between the pipe and thimble?

Do they have "Finished" out side halfs for thimbles?

The pipe that goes through the wall thimble should have a slight downward tilt to allow any moisture to fall to the outside, rather than going back into the heat exchanger. I pack the area around the thimble with rock wool, since it is flameproof and also a good insulator. I have never seen a "decorative" thimble, but that doesn't mean that they might not exist.

Rusty,

Like junkman said, the pipe should be angled down so that any moisture that condenses in the pipe can drain out.
Did you want to fill the area between the thimble and pipe? That should not be done. That area acts like an air gap, with the air being a very good insulator. You can insulate around the outside of the thimble, but put nothing between the pipe and the thimble.
Go here:
http://www.duravent.com/docs/instruct/L204A_apr00.pdf

Its a generic direct vent instruction manual, but if you scroll down to Figure 5, it will explain about the thimble and insulation.
Do an internet search on "B-Vent", "direct vent", or "Dura-Vent", and you'll see plenty of companies that sell these vents, and some of them may have a
decorative style thimble.
Hope this helps,
Steve
