Getting ready to finish the ceiling and walls in my garage. I have read alot here about different materials for each. I think I have decided on a metal ceiling and sheetrock for the walls. The ceiling is 9'. I was thinking about a 12inch PT wood "baseboard" (not sure what I will use) and then horizontal drywall. My question is what do I use where the wall meets the ceiling? Do they make a piece of trim to finish off nicely? I read all about alternatives to sheetrock but think it looks the best and paints nicely. Appreciate all comments... Also wondering what I will have to pay for the ceiling material. My garage is 30x36.

I used some old tin for my ceiling, and OSB on the walls. I trimmed out where the ceiling meets the wall with 2x4's. I lightly stained them to match the natural color of the OSB. Turned out pretty good.

J trim is ideal for this... Makes a nice clean look, and helps hide any mistakes. I don't know if you have a menards, but either way their web site has good images and diagrams of the trims and how they, are used.

Upscale?

Go buy the cheapest, thinest gutter you can find.Cut the profile part off front....take the remaining 90*(bttm/back)and cut so as to make a frieze.

The frieze should be a 3 or so inch vert with a 3/4 leg goin back to wall.

The remaining pce of material is bent to form the "clip" that holds upper most edge of crown(gutter) to ceiling.

Took longer to type that then it would to fabricate, duh.

I'll go find an image for those who don't know what a gutter profile looks like(not you GAR)

Here is a couple pics of J trim for the ceiling... Maybe it helps visualize. They are a little grainy, not enough light for the zoom on the phone camera...

This one is where the ceiling meets a finished wall (in my case the wall is steel as well)
