i was at my local walmart. it looks like every knife in the locked display case was on clearance. i assume in prep for a reset. they deals seemed pretty good some better than others but it looked like at least 1/3 off and many approaching 1/2 off and a few over that.

my purchase was several mora basic 511 with blaze orange handle for 4 bucks. they will be plenty good for cutting weeds, twiine, netwrap and the like while the blaze color should make them nearly impossible to be lost and not found.

there were many buck, crkt, gerber, sog. swiss army, swisstech and others.

Mine did something similar last year, but I never recall mine ever selling Mora knives at all.

Also, after that mine moved more upscale into Victorinox, some higher-end Kershaw, nicer Swiss Tech stuff, and Civivi. I had suspected that it was a local adjustment, as the owner of a long-standing brick and mortar and online knife retail business called it quits (he blamed finding staff, I blamed the fact that at least half the stuff he had was $200+ high-end offerings).

If you need something to keep you busy, you could make a few bucks reselling those on eBay,
If you aren’t familiar with what sells, you’d better research that before buying those knives, even at half off. eBay absorbs 15-20% or more in selling costs.

13.6% + $.40 on most categories, 15.3% on books, movies, music. Not quite 20%, but still not great either. However if you look at Facebook's 10%, the ebay exposure might justify the higher cut...sort of

Its been quite a few years since I've gone to Walmart.
About the only thing I'd buy there was salt for the water softener.
