I had a client ask be to design and create a mailbox that would match the stone veneer of their house. It was a little difficult with the home owners association regulations, but did what I could. I didn't draw up any blue prints for this. I mostly just had an idea and went with it. End product turn out really nice.

I posted a couple pictures and a link to the video of the build.

Really nice, well done.

Did the home owner check with zoning before the build (not just the HOA)? Some jurisdictions, dare I say most, don't allow these.

Just curious.

Yes, building, public works, zoning, H.O.A. Before I built it I wanted to be sure it would be approved. Thanks for asking lakeroadster!

The homeowners Association would not allow block and rebar because the footing that was designed by the engineer was to be 30'' x 30'' x 12'' deep. The association rejected it.
But approved 12'' x12'' x 2' deep. So that is what I did. strange!! But whatever, The homeowner got what they wanted anyway.

Seems really odd that a HOA would care about the size of a foundation, but makes me glad I don't live in a neighborhood that has one.

Did you do the stone work and have any info on it? I want to build a couple of stone columns in my back yard.

Yes I agree with you, associations ****! I don't live a neighborhood that has one either. Yes, I did the stone work. It is real stone called Lompoc ledge, I'm in southern California, I think it is only available here. However there might be something similar where you are. Start with a stucco or block finish, I used thin set to install the stone.

I would imagine the Engineer at the HOA wanted the structure to fail and collapse if it gets impacted by a motor vehicle. The 30 x 30 was too wide, too strong.

That's why I asked if the local jurisdiction (county, township, etc.) was ok with the structure. Most of them don't allow these due to collateral damage.
