Looking for ideas of simple projects to build with my welder (I have a very very good stick welder and an inexpensive wire-feed). Anyone know of any sites where I can get ideas of things to weld up? Also I like to start making "things" for my garage. Anyone know of any sites wher you can get ideas for projects (for example : build your own tools, build your own engine stand, build your own lift, etc) or even simple projects will do. Thanks.

I've got an AC stick welder and an oxy-acet setup. A few things i've built this winter are:
Street Hockey net out of rebar and exhaust pipe.
Two wall mounted tv brackets for my children's rooms, made of angle iron from old beds.
A luggage rack for my motorcycle using the handle from an old air compressor.
A small wood stove for an ice fishing shack out of an expired 20 lb propane tank.
Guitar stand from an old coat rack.

Thank you very much. Amazing Site for welding projects. Any other ideas for smaller projects?

A good welding table is wonderful project. It does not have to be any set size. Maybe you could measure the area that you want to put your welding table and build one that fits that area and your average welding requirements. I always enjoy looking at friends shops that have been fabricating for many years. I always build my shop equipment to fit me. I am 6'2" so I build my tables a litlle taller than standard. Everyone has different tastes, build to yours.

A welding table does not have to be made out of real heavy gauge steel, unless you will be welding large/heavy stuff on it. I have 3 welding tables. Each one has a different task. My last table was built out of 2x3, 2x4 3/16 tube, with a 3/8 4x10 top. It has trailer tounge jacks at each corner to level and adjust height. I built it for chassis layout, and to have a large level work surface. When I get into the new shop I will build a table that fits under the big one(for space saving) that has no top, just square tube supports for even more diversity in chassis building.

Many years ago I was cleaning the shop with a friend, and we got side tracked. We ended up building a ashtray. The base was a spare brake drum with an axle shaft bolted to it, carrier from the axle on top of the shaft, with a parking brake drum mounted to the otherside of the carrier. We later added a small shelf where the ring gear would have been. You could spin the table and the ashtray would rotate the oter direction. Kind of a weird but cool thing. Stuff like that gets built in my shop just about everytime we finish a large project. After spending months of free time, and hundreds of hours working on a car, it is a nice break to build fun stuff.

There's a book called "Welding Projects", you can probably get it at amazon. Has pages of shop projects with dimensions and diagrams.
