Wanted - nut + bolt, screw, hardware deals

Hey guys, I would love to stock up on a selection of nuts, bolts, and screws. If anybody has-
A) a good source for quality N+B+S or

B) can provide any info for a discounted selection that would be awesome.

Ive looked at Zoro when they have 30%, the assortments look tempting but not awesome.

Again, I need quality hardware so no super cheap foreign stuff please unless its proven. Thanks!

They sell by the pound which will save lots of money.

I have bought from this eBay seller. I have emailed him the sizes and grade I need and he will send them with a one pound minimum per size. One of my orders totaled close to seventy pounds. He sells by the pound and his prices are some of the best I have found anywhere.

Lowes was clearancing a ton of their loose fasteners, may want to take a jog through your local store and see what's left.

If you want to sort them, most harware stores (ie ace hardware) normally have a bucket of misc bolts, nuts and screws that they clean up from the counter and floors. I have gotten two buckets full for free just for asking. Rich

I've been debating on buying a "master set" of nuts and bolts to.
But the issue with doing so, is diff. Lengths, thread pitches, fastner size(then mm and standard), and aswell grades. While it would be easier to have on hand, you can't have every n&b needed.
So i just head up to hd, or lowes(sometimes hf) buy a bulk size of what i want, and slowly build it.

But i would also say tractor supply.

That's the way I've always seen it done. Find an agricultural based place. Like Farm & Fleet, Tractor Supply or Rural King. Then buy some bins.

I have gotten some of the best deals from Enco for fasteners.

I wait for one of the sales with 20% off and free shipping, then restock my bolt bins.

Enco has a pretty good selection and you can choose from offshore, or USA manufacturers.

Find a steel supply in your area,they will usually have fasteners by the lb(like tractor supply noted above) but at a better price.

I have struggled with the same thing for years. Most of the bigger sets are way to expensive and the smaller sets don't reach what I need. I just found this on ebay and bought a set at $149 with smaller counts it nets me a lot of different common (for me) sizes and lengths up to 6" long.
Disclaimer: I do not know his company, nor am I connected with them in any way. I am just a regular guy who is satisfied with what is being offered at that price.

I have been using Allen's Fasteners. the guy seems to have all the items in stock (At least the items I have purchased). The site was different than I have seen before, but easy once you get the hang of how it is setup. They ship using USPS and no handling charge, just the cost of shipping the flat fee USPS boxes. No delays with "Order-in-Process" BS like the big companies.

Selection is good and it caters to Automotive/Hot-Rod/ and maybe some off shore racing. He has ARP bolts and lots of stainless steel and grade 8. They also have Aircraft washer "Small O.D. (AN960 Series). I like these because there tolerances are tighter.

Rice Rocket, I just put one together with the cardboard and to be honest for me Joe homeowner I think the cardboard will hold up fine. To get the plastic bins was a LOT more money for me. Also I like the cardboard bins as they have a high lip on the back so when you pull one out it flops down for access but doesn't come all the way out (sits on like a 45 degree angle if you can picture it). When I look at the plastic bins they don't seem to have that lip on the back top. They are a little shorter than the cardboard ones.

I live in a rural area and I hate to drive to the hardware store just to buy fasteners so whenever I spot cheap hardware at garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores I buy it. Just today I bought 40 lbs of various nails, screws, nuts, and bolts all neatly sorted into tupperware containers for $5. The stuff that is easily classified goes into various bins and drawers and the weird stuff goes into 5 gallon buckets to be sorted "someday". I'm at the point where I have enough variety that I'm rarely "out of stock" on an item that I need and about the only hardware I buy new anymore is graded nuts and bolts or specialty fasteners. I usually stock up on these items at Menards when they are having an 11% off sale.

If you are in pensacola fl stop by the dirt cheap building supply. Marine grade stainless bolts size 1/2" and up to 1" for 49 cents a pound. Last week they were 99 cents lb and I loaded up. At 49 cents I added another 30 lbs to the bolt bins.
