Wanted - Snap-On Ratchet

I saw this Snap On ratchet at a friends today, and I want one. He said that it is no longer available from Snap On. The head is mounted to a pin on the shaft, and you can slide the head on the pin, to change the angle. I looked at the part number, and I believe that it is FS35MP, but I can't be certain, since my eye sight has been failing me for the last 96 years....

Not one of these is it? This particular model is a 1/4" part # T860MP.

I believe they call it a indexable head or something like that....

Right you are, Billy, That's a Snap-on indexable ratchet. They made this in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" and they crop up on eBay quite often.

LOL, I thought I remembered seeing a Snap~on one of these before. I always considered it a Stanley/Walmart special.

What all (actual uses) have you used them on, that you couldn't have done as easily, otherwise?

That is the beast. What is the going price for the 1/4", 3/8", & the 1/2" ???
I checked the link for the 1/4" one above, but I don't like tools that have "discreet etching removals". To me, those are just fancy words to say that it was engraved, and then someone attempted to remove the engraving, leaving the tool looking worse than it would have if they had just left the engravings alone. I once bought a used tiny 1/4" drive ratchet off the SO truck that had the engravings removed so carefully, that I didn't notice it until much later. The dealer was sharp, and he said it came from a body shop, and that the yellow paint was to ID one workers tools. When I removed the yellow paint, I found the grinding marks. That was the last time that I ever bought anything from that dealer.

They're one of those tools that is seldom used, but when you need it nothing else will do. The push-pull ratcheting option is also very handy in tight spots where you can't get much swing. I don't have one and have only used them a couple times but they're worth having. They're very good ratchets.

I have an FK936 with the most faint engraving in it, i'd had it a good 5-6 months before i ever knew. It's so faint i have to squint to see it, it's not even noticable. I do however have a speed brace that's had engravings removed, not a pretty sight.

I have noticed there seems to be a lot of 3/8" drive Proto indexable ratchets on eBay lately.

I picked up a three of the Blackhawk ones in a tool lot super cheap awhile back. There have been times where I really could have used an indexable ratchet but since I've had one I have not needed it.

I wonder why Snap-On stopped making them; I don't see anything currently shipping that replaces that design! Anyone know why?

My guess would be that they weren't too popular. They're great when you need them, but that's a rare occasion. You can pick up cheap Taiwan/China ones, but they're all pretty crappy versions.
