You can practically get the same fan for about $700 if you just know where to look:

I suggest looking both at the Minka Aire fans as well as Casablanca.

I really want to create a set of belt turned ceiling fans. The kits they sell are really expensive, and for no reason.

Some pulleys and bearings from Mcmaster, a cage to hold and tension belts, and some leather belt. Would have to machine or weld together two tubs to hold the blades, and you can buy replacement blades from home depot/lowes.

6k is a lot of money. With a little less fancy/more industrial look I don't see how they would be to expensive to DIY.

Saw these in Fine Homebuilding www.bigassfans.com

I saw some big *** fans at the tampa airport this summer. I looked up and literally said "those are some big *** fans" . The wife wasnt at all interested. Seriously, they had to be every bit of 25'. Its hard to judge size when they're hanging an undetermined height above you, but they were BIG...... Come to think of it no one around me really cared either:headscrat losers
