I want to get a m12 ratchet in 1/4 & 3/8 drive, my 1st gen IR ratchet is dying. Has anyone found a good deal on start getting M12 tools. I've had luck with the local Home Depot using HF20% off coupons.

The bare ratchets are about $60 each at Advance auto, thanks to the TRT40, $40 off $100 coupon.

If you already have a charger (like the dual voltage one that comes with some M18 tools) the off brand batteries from Amazon might be worth a try.

Cheap, and seem to get great reviews.

HD has a promotion going on where if you buy 2 of the bare tools, you get a free battery and charger.

Same route I was about to say the OP should go if HD isn't having a huge promotion at the moment.

Chargers can be had on eBay for pretty much the cost of shipping and batteries can pop up 2 for 1 deals occasionally.

Love my 3/8" ratchet, use it almost daily in the shop.

Well, it only cost $25 more than getting the ratchet from Advance and the battery and charger separately...

Lol. :lol::lol::lol:

Its funny when some people post things wanting to get a pat on the head and somebody from the real world throws a bucket of cold water on them.

OP,

If you're going to do the HD bare tool deal, I recommend going with the rotary tool and the 3/8 ratchet. I dont have the ratchet yet, but I cant tell you how useful the rotary tool has been in the couple of years that I've had it.

Be sure to go FUEL for the tools you like most.

I have the 1/4" impact and drill in the NON FUEL and find them to be very unsatisfying.

Thats coming from experience with both FUEL 12/18 lines and previous LITHion 18v sets.

That deal they had around xmas (99.00 for the non-Fuel impact, drill and 3 batteries) was probably they best way to start on M12.

As much as I love the Fuel equivalents, I think for the small drills Fuel might not be necessary....ive used the 3/8" drill that came with that 99.00 kit more than Ive used my M12 Fuel 1/2" hammer drill. For the hex impact driver, Fuel all the way....I havent even opened the non-fuel impact that came with my kit (I might just sell it off)

same for me. Prefer the 3/8 drill (non fuel) and fuel hex driver over their counterparts. If I need more drill, I go to my m18 fuel stuff.

LOL I'm the complete opposite. The 2410 and updated 2407 brushed 3/8" drills are gutless for actually drilling holes (good for de-burring w c-sinks). The 2404 Fuel w 1/2" chuck at least has enough guts to be passable as a general purpose drill.

For impact drivers, they're inherently more powerful anyway thru the VERY CONCEPT of the tool, ie impacting mechanism. I've been quite pleased w my brushed 2450 and updated replacement 2462. I also have the Fuel 2453 and it IS more powerful, but mostly I appreciate the slimmer body & 2 speeds.

I didn't see any $60 ratchets at the advance site, the one I saw was $99 with 15% off. So with shipping it was pretty close to what I got the bare tool for($87 at the door). Charger & bigger battery was $63 at the door. There are Milwaukee M12 knock off batteries on e bay, I wasn't tempted to buy them.

If you could come up with $15 worth of oil filters or whatever you need, that would have put you back at $75 for free shipping

Edit
I stand corrected, its TRT41 for $40 off
