A friend sent me this link. I'm not going to go fill a bottle and try this experiment, but for the life of me! Don't we have enough **** going on!
I've picked up empty bottles in my yard that someone threw out their window~ so now call 911 when I have an empty plastic bottle in my sights!
Be carefull!

I can't see one of those severing fingers. It only builds up enough pressure to pop the bottle. It could cause some swelling and redness in addition to chemical burns. Probably the worst thing that would happen is if it got in your eyes.

Still not cool though, and very illegal in public.

X2 on the dry ice and water. I've witnessed this and I sure as hell wouldn't want to be holding one when it went off! The one I saw was thrown into a scrap metal hopper and it "relocated" quite a bit of scrap steel when it detonated.

Old news or not, I just felt obligated to post a possible avoidable catastrophe. It's like I tell my girls; I don't mean ever to scare, but to make you aware and prepare! Life is full of dirty tricks and they're is unfortunately a lot of ill minded people around. :(

In my limited experience, the lids always fail first on those bottles.made for fun rockets when filed with half water.

Congrats on waking up from your coma... 35 years was a long time to sleep...

Seriously.. we made these as kids like 25 years ago and I know I wasn't the first kid to discover this. Also, I was 10, and already smart enough not to hold one in my hand. I also never had a firecracker or M-80 go off in my hand. I must be lucky.:headscrat

Vinegar. I give my boys a box of BS and a jar of vinegar just to keep them busy some days.....they're 6 and 8.

When we where kids we used to put Dad's bullets in the vice and squeeze them until the gunpower came out. Then we'd pile it up in some salt-peter and sulfur to make a crazy fire ball. (We didn't say we where smart!) It always burned big holes through the driveway though!
The one story I always tell is how I burned my Big Jim doll at the stake. I piled up shavings and some fire starter, then wrapped some old D-cell batteries around his legs. I had no idea how explosive batteries where! Poor Big Jim, lost both his legs in that incident before melting into a pile of goo...:wtf:

I have one question was it the bomb technician that made it so big or the bomb it self. If so that why bigger than and dry ice bomb I've seen.

No thats about right. Ive seen more than my share. technically speaking its not drano, but lye and tin foil. It used to be sold as crystal drano, but Im not sure if you can even buy it anymore. Same with salt petre. Used to be sold in all the pharmacies, but now you have to buy stump remover and not all brands are salt petre so you have to hunt down a msds for it. I always liked to add flower of sulfur to mine and it made a giant stink smoke bomb that had the ability to make the entire neighborhood wreak of eggs. Its amazing what can be done with household chemicals and sugar. I got in trouble for something similar when I was kid and I got little more than a slap on the wrist. Even had the bomb squad out and everything. They'll put you in jail for years for that **** anymore. Even if theres no criminal mischief involved like what was shown.

I made those when I was a kid all the time, if you put one under an upside down 5 gallon bucket it will go above the tree tops.

At my dad's high school they used to blow the toiled off the wall with an M80 every now and then.

As mentioned so many times, nothing new. This has been happening for decades.. We just didn't have youtube back then so word didn't spread the same way.

We did the tin foil balls and draino. We called them draino bombs.

Same here, but we used to use toilet cleaner and foil.

Loud as hell. Any cleaner with Hydrochloric Acid will work, eats the foil and pressurizes the bottle. A bit different in reaction than dry ice and water, but same end result, except then you were splattering acid out when it popped!

But now that you can get dry ice at walmart and they will sell it to anybody I guess kids use what they can get.

I think the real warning here is that if the bottle appears to be filled with smoke... walk away.

We used to fill black trash bags with oxy+acetylene from the torch (not full, just a couple cubic feet maybe), put a lamp cord in with a stripped end and twist the copper ends together (just a few strands) and tape it shut, stick it in a corner of the shop, then we'd plug it into a switched outlet in the shop, and wait for one of the guys to come in and flip the lightswitch, BLAM! guys would get scared out of their socks...

We use dry ice at work and yeh we make dry-ice bombs 2 liters work best and they are very powerful we actually took a wood box 2x2 3/4 plywood thats used as a shipping container for a 150 lb electrical generator and put the bomb in and the box completely destroyed it not 1 piece over 1 " in size yes they could kill you.

Used to make dry ice bombs all the time. Tried to do one with a 5lb block and a 5gl Igloo and duct tape once. Couldn't get an airtight seal on it. Back in the early 90's when Soldiers (Army) didn't really see any action we (Air Force) used to mess with those guys and throw them in the 2ft wide alley between our building when they were marching by. Nowadays I would never think of such a thing. Can't have any fun anymore. :(

Yep, foil and Drano here as well. Like 30 years ago. Dumb, dumb, dumb.....

Now very illegal (D Felony), as an explosive device. Even on your own property :(

Now, tannerite... That is some fun stuff! :rocketwho

They can be dangerous. An idiot I knew in high school made on in a mason jar. Didn't get away fast enough, and it shrapneled into him. His back is now covered in scars from the glass blasting into him.
