I saw that a few days ago, most likely the entire swivel jaw broke off so someone just welded it and made it into a static jaw. With a lot of sanding and a new coat of paint it could probably look as though it never had a swivel jaw.

That's really too bad. Takes all the value away from the vise. What a d-bag whoever did that...

It also looks like the support "shelf" (sorry, not sure on technical term) was also broken off at one point. It might be OK for a welding vise at ~1/10th of the listed $.

I would put it to work but not for $250 ouch!
