A friend of mine whom I've helped a good deal work on and tune his truck just gave me these as a thank you for all my help. He knows my love of old tools and I have to say I was very touched by his gesture. From what I can see and what I know of this company they are great vises. The big one is a 436, and the small one a 955. Anyway to narrow down the date of when they may have been made?

The cylindrical hub is I think post 1940. The fact that they are made by The Charles Parker Company and not by such and such company, Parker Vise division means pre 1955.

This website is no longer updated, but still serves as a good resource for vise information.

Both of your models appear to be listed. The 955 was likely made post WWII. The 436 could be from the late 30s to late 40s. Both are collectible (but not necessarily valuable) and worthy of restoration.

Welcome to GJ from another Oregonian!

Thanks all for the responses. I look forward to restoring these. It's been awhile since I've poked around on this board and I see it's become a pretty incredible wealth of information!
