Was this carb tool perhaps made by Plomb or Proto?

I bought this thinking it was a cool-looking nut driver and hoping that it was manufactured by Plomb. The font on the shaft reminded me of Plomb.

I Googled the part number (T109-173) after I got home and found out it is a tool for removing/installing the main jet on Stromberg and Carter carburetors for Chryslers (and maybe other brands - not sure).

Any thoughts on if this might have been Plomb or Proto made?

Darn, I was hoping with the font, and the "-P" it might have been Plomb or Proto.

Thanks for the info, guys.

That's a Carter Carburetor part number and they made most of their tools tools in-house.

Hi. Are you saying Carter manufactured most of their tools themselves? I know Blackhawk made stuff for them.....I kinda assumed we just didn't know who all their contracts were with.....Thanks.

Carter had contracts with several companies but they made a lot of their own stuff. I know Bonney made stuff for them as I’ve had some in the past. I didn’t know Blackhawk did, just one more to look for now. I was tracking Bonney, Kent Moore and K-D.

Hi Tin Medic. I have boxes of Carter stuff with multiple other companies mixed in but no expertise whatsoever about them. I did post a single Blackhawk made Carter socket on the vintage Blackhawk thread post 1121. A couple posts later someone posted a fantastic Stromberg kit also made by Blackhawk.

Here's another T109-173 (from Don Smith's Vintage Auto Tools web site).
It is made differently - has a metal ferrule.

I'd love to see them if you ever get the time. I pick up the Carter Carburetor stuff whenever I come across it, which isn't to often.

I'd be happy to when I get back in the area they're stored. All I have here for carbs is a Boxed 35 Herbrand set.

I have a Carter carburetor wrench made by Cornwell, MAC or Vanadium Tool Co.

I dug this out today for a few pictures. It’s 3/8” drive.
