I have a Kenmore 500 washer that does not start at all, totally dead.

I open it up and check the lid switch and is fine. I did not replace the capacitor because I do not think is needed to advance the time.
I also look for some kind of fuse and found none.

Any help is appreciated

I know its fairly common to have replace the entire "control board" on appliances these days. It usually includes the entire display and buttons, and also has the control circuitry for most of the motors and such. Typically they're like $100-$200 to buy.

I'd take it apart and make sure you're getting power to the board first though. There's often a fuse inside that may be blown, but usually if the fuse is blown, there's something broken on the control board and you have to replace it.

Is this a mechanical timer or all electronic control board. If mechanical there are several switches in the timer that are activated by turning the timer and pulling the knob out. Some of the mechanical will strip the teeth on the knob and not turn at all but make you think they are turning. Check knob and see if the teeth are worn.

The power cord has power and the timer is the pull out kind. I will take the knob out and check the teeth.

Those knobs have a clip on the backside that has to be removed to take the knob off. I usually used a 6" stainless ruler to push the clip off. But be prepared to look for the clip as it can really fly off.
