I agree on the two pages part and I started the thread! I know *********** them. Wasp spray and dusk. I know that part. I was trying to figure out why they keep wandering into my garage. Am I doing something to attract them? Can I do something to detour them?

Because they can and they like you better than the neighbor.

My grandpa used to take a rag, soak it in gasoline, put it on the end of a stick and knock the nests down, then light them! The wasps don't survive that....

I've had pretty good success the last couple of times with a shop vac and one of those long gutter cleaning attachment. You stick it by where they are getting in and turn the vac on. The start attacking the the opening of the hose only to get sucked in. Most shop vacs have the deflector plate as the air enters the vacuum and that seems to be pretty effective at dispatching them. I usually shut the vac off and give it a shot of wasp killer to be sure.

Make for a great way to strike up a conversation with the neighbors! Also have use a squeeze bulb with boric acid at the entrance to get rid of the ones in the nest

It's not wasps in the garage that bother me, it's wasps in the house. They winter over somewhere in the house and then in the spring get into the living area. I suspect they may be in the attic and come to the light down the wireing through some light fixtures in the evening. I don't want to kill them because they eat undesireable insects, of which we have a big supply. It's a challenge to get them out of the house. Have some success putting a broom in front of them and getting them to crawl on it, then take the broom outside and shake the wasp off. Also throw a towel over them and fold the towel over them, the shake the towel out. Got stung through the towel own day last week. I'm not sensitive to stings but sure don't enjoy them.

I think like another poster said, they just go to the garage looking for insects.

The giant wasps are cicada killers. Never seen one until last year. Bought a house with a pool and we find them in it a few times a year. Very scary looking, but usually harmless to humans. Or so my research said...

Ah, cicada killers... My Mother used to be a teacher at a kindergarten and there would always be a few cicada killers around the playground. They burrowed into the sand to make their nest. Supposedly, they paralyze the cicada and bring it back to their young, which then eat it alive...

Anyhow, I remember she said that a kid got stung on the arm once, and his whole arm went numb for a few hours... I'm glad it wasn't me!
