I am looking for a very small/fine tipped screw driver set for opening up watch covers and tightening up eye glasses.

I do have 2 cheap small screw driver set, the typical one you see at home depot. But the tip is too big for the things I want to do.

Anyone have suggestions on quality small screw driver set? I do see a bunch on amazon, but I hate to purchase one and have to return it because it is too big...

Jeff picks locks but I am sure he needs tiny screwdrivers sometimes too :p

As I recall Sears sold some very small jewelers type screwdrivers under the Craftsman name. Open stock I believe. Very small tips I beleive. Maybe they still offer them.

Husky has a decent multi driver with the smallest blade bit @ 1/16, and the smallest PH @ PH000. HD-74501 S

If you need smaller, go to a watch tool site to order a set.

Don't use a screwdriver tip to get the backs off of watches, they make tools for that, and I have used a pocket knife blade (not the tip..) to do so. YMMV

The forward cutting style of can opener found on Victorinox Swiss Army knives makes an excellent case opener. It's about as good as a "proper" case opener tool.

I have a bunch of Craftsman jewelers screwdrivers. They ****, and the tips twist, but at least the warranty is good.
If you've got the cash, there are a number of Swiss watchmaker screwdrivers that are truly excellent. Otherwise, the set from Starrett is a good alternative (that's more like Cadillac priced, instead of Ferrari).

BHH, I have a metric **** ton of pocket clip and other small screwdrivers...mostly for taking apart locks and other stuff. Lots of them are trade show give-aways. They are not exactly precise though...especially when you pry with them a few times :)
I do have that Husky driver, both the one with red cap above, and the torx one (black cap) which I use for taking apart hard drives and laptops.

These are great tools for the price. I have at least 6 of them in various places. I wish you could buy replacement tips though. I have a few that I've had to regrind.

.

I have a set of theirs, never used them a whole lot, but for my minor needs they've sure been handy. I just can't imagine screws that are that small being so tight that they would bent a driver tip.

I have a small set of tiny bits. Came from one of my PC vendors, don't recall the brand but I have been building computers for many years and have updated tools over the years. Jeff's suggestion company is good. I also like Wiha.

Sears does offer some very good, very small tipped sets. I bought a 5-6 piece Craftsman set for just these purposes. Would recommend, especially at $10-15 or less.

JMO....

See ya, :hellobye:
