I know the feeling the op has. I was a victim myself several years ago. Got cleaned out by a local thug or p.o.s. I even gave his name to the cops, all they wanted to know was did I have insurance. End of investigation...I now live on a few acres in the country. Recently I've had a couple meth heads attempt to break in my house in broad daylight with my wife at home. And just a couple weeks ago they drove back to my shop which is about 400 ft behind my house with only one way in and one way out. Then back the neighbors drive to his shop and then back through a gate and through my hay field. I called the local law enforcement and they said they would probably be back as they where just scoping the area out. With sheriff depts having budget cuts I see these incidents increasing. I'm thinking its time for some home defense training and more ammo. I've been told the conceal carry classes are starting to fill up as more people are getting tired of being victims.

and to those arguing about shooting a robber. I have something to add. In 2003 I had to shoot a man that was attempting to rob me at knife point in a walmart parking lot in LasVegas. (think rambo knife)I did not kill him, but he quickly found out that I was not the right guy to rob. I was lucky enough to be able to draw my weapon and get him b4 he got me. This was his THIRD conviction. He did get some prison time out of the whole thing, but not what you would expect for someone being convicted of aggravated armed robbery for the third time. I was driving a 1988 mazda b2200 and had $17 on me.

I dream about him often, and my heart beats fast just thinking about it. If I were in that position again I would use the same level of force. BUT, if I catch someone breaking into my damned shed I am NOT going to shoot someone unless I am in actual fear for my, or my families life.... I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Defending your LIFE is one thing, but shooting someone over a lawn mower? gimme a F'n break. Does that mean I'm gonna let said thief just walk away? HELL NO. but i'm not gonna kill him either.
