Water Heater Constantly Dripping

Ever since I had a new water heater installed a couple months ago, the drain in the laundry room has a constant dripping coming from it. It's the type that has the daily re-circulation feature if that makes a difference. I had a guy that does plumbing as a retirement job and a handyman come over and neither knew what was needed to be done to stop the dripping.

Any thoughts or even what type of person to call? It's making my laundry room have a musty smell.

Thanks in advance!

If you are saying the water heater relief valve is dripping, you should check your thermal expansion tank or add one if you don't have one installed.

I think if you post the model of that water heater, some one might be able to answer it better.... for example, I installed one of those hybrid GE water heaters ( now whiteford) and those water heaters have condensate drains...more condensate drains out of it in the Summer than the Winter...

Just saying... you know what I am saying.... dependents on your water heater, "That component" might be interpret differently.

If it is coming out of the relief valve you need to add an expansion tank to the cold side of the feed to the water heater. Generally there is some stratification in a tank water heater. Perhaps your recirc is operating in such a way that it is returning fairly warm water and boosting the over-all temp in the tank. Temperature and pressure being directly proportional your Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve may be doing its job perfectly.
