My 60 year old Trageser Copper Code water heater is done. My question is how do i dismantle to bring for salvage on Staten Island, NY. Copper is at $3.13 a pound today. What do i need to know.....i am a Senior citizen and would like a few bucks in return. Please help and advise

That price is probably for clean copper with nothing on it. Is that what the water heater is? No insulator, paint, or other material on it? If it does have something on it, it is still worth something, but just less. You will have to get the water heater there on your own. Truck with kids to move it? Some youngsters from the neighborhood and offer them beer?
You could check craigslist for scrappers, people who will come pick it up. You might get 50 cents on the dollar for the scrap though.

Watch out for the last minute 'that's mixed metal' due to a single pop rivet left behind. Make sure that you are religious about separating the various metals and pay you the lower price for something that is 99.99% copper. You are always offered the option of ******* it home again.
