So I augered out the corner holes for my pole building, about 4 feet deep, and they now have about 16 inches of water in them. It didn't rain, and hasn't for about 2 weeks. The surface is dry and cracked right now. the bottom of the holes feels pretty firm, I plan to use perma columns sitting on concrete cookies, but the water bothers me. Its deep enough that it shouldn't freeze, so am I worried about nothing? I really don't have another good building site, despite lots of property, its all hills. This site is in a bottom, which has been pasture for years. Has anyone had this happen? I want to get started, but I don't want to watch it sink either.

That's normal. Don't worry about it.

We have a fairly high water table where I am. I could dig that hole in the middle of summer when it hasn't rained in a month and get water in the bottom.
