Started digging to install a waterline and sewer line to my detached garage. It's about 30 feet to the house but the problem begins with shop garage waterline being on the high side , above ground, of the foundation. The cement boys built the bathroom corner of the shop up three feet to get the driveway to drain correctly. The plumber came in and pretty much ran the 3/4 pex line underneath the formation plywood. So it's only about 4 inches burried. The house side, I dug down two feet and plan on drilling a hole thru foundation to tap into water meter. The problem is that I live in Wyoming and frost line needs to be five feet. I'm not even starting with that on either side of my waterline, thus no need to dig the middle down that deep? Right. I would like water year round. What are my options??? Heat tape or box out and insulate on both sides where it goes into foundation or??????

The waterline needs to be below the frost line and then sweep up under the slab. Insulate the riser (vertical part) on all sides with 2" XPS. A tee gets installed inside and an internal pipe heater is installed. I'll try to get the brand name tomorrow for you.
No problem at all. Not me in the link but shows OP the process.

An actual plumber didn't do that did he? If so, you need to contact whoever oversees the licensing there and let them know he is a hack that has no business "plumbing".

Water lines and sewer lines require 10' of isolation from each other.

Sixty4, I have to also throw you another WOW! Very cool, well done solution to a unique situation! My guess is that continued success/no freeze will be dependent on the correct drip/flow rate. Outstanding!

Hanewald, if you can't figure out a way to re-do your install properly...remember that you will never be able to just insulate your way out of that install, you will have to have flowing water as well. My guess is a lot of flow on the coldest days. next step would be to add some form of heat tape. which will eventually fail. You can ask me how i know if you want to, Haha
