I need to get water from my heated garage through 4 non heated garage bays into the 5th bay on the very end. The 5th bay will be heated.
The bays are all in a line.
It gets very very cold in Maine during the winter.
How can I do it?
I have some ideas but I don't want to contaminate the idea pool with them just yet.

LOTS of people use heat tape..........and LOTS of fires have been started by incorrect installs and/or failure of heat tape (not to be a jinx koditten).

Run an oversized water line and check this out......in pipe heating cable. Its a bit more than heat tape but it's pretty fool proof.

Should be able to pick it up at a good plumbing supply house or online.

are you just running cold water? or hot water too?

if just cold water, I'm thinking a t-stat controlled circulating pump . run the return line to each of the heated locations . put the stat in an unheated area (perhaps outside out of the sun) .

a buddy has a garage with cold water to it, the line from the house to the garage isn't very deep & subject to frost. Not easy to to dig a deeper trench due to concrete patio etc etc. He's rigged up a solenoid so that he can remotely turn off & on the water & blow compressed air to clear the water.
during the winter months he runs a cable to the house from the garage to switch off & on the water , and an air line that blows the line clear all from inside the garage.A check valve on the air line in the basement of the house stops water from entering the air line.
When he wants water, he flips the switch that opens the solenoid valve to allow water to the garage. when he's done with the water, off goes the solenoid, open the faucet and blows air to clear the water.

Hahaha You have just suggested the two ideas I had. My friend was concerned with the pump idea because he figured that ice would build up slowly regardless of running water.
