What is the difference between solvent and water based floorings? I am going to do My office floor this weekend and am making the coating selection an agonizing event. I was told that Sherwin williams water based epoxy was good. I am also looking at tread plex for the actual shop area. The office is 200 sf of 60 day old clean concrete. The shop is 1200sf Of 4 year old slightly oil stained concete and will be subject to hard use including welding sparks. Anybody have any input?

I was told that all paint is the same. Water based has lye or other chemicals to make it water soluble . For the shop floor maybe a concrete stain or a sealer. A coating will chip...russ.

I was told mutliple times to stay away from water soluble epoxy. I heard it lasts a lot longer and much more resistant to wear and chipping and such.
