Thanks for all the info guys. I learned a lot on this project very rewarding to finally finish it. Got this box from an estate sale for $25, it didn't have have an emblem just some snap on stickers. Wasn't sure if I wanted to do anything to it. recently decided to strip it to bare metal and repaint. I used goof off to loosen up the paint and a wire wheel to get the paint off. worked really well but made a huge mess. I sprayed it with sunrise red enamel and ordered a new emblem from waterloo because its nearly impossible to find an older one.

Wow great job, thats quite a shine on that box. The modern emblem is a good touch, though Im not a big fan of the latest in waterloo.

Great resto on a great box. How long did it all take, do you figure? Too bad Waterloo doesn't sell the old badges..

Looks great! Similar (but much nicer) to one I refinished a few months back. What's the date code on yours?

It doesn't have any date codes. The only thing I found stamped on it was on the drawer slides "s" was stamped... I swear i stripped the whole box naked and examined it.
