So, had our swap meet yesterday, found a waterloo ml522 box for 20 dollars. Nothing super rare/old/fancy, but have been wanting a more mobile cabinet to wheel out to my driveway etc.

Its not in bad shape honestly. theres overspray and a ding here or there, no major dents though. It is missing bottom compartment cover, but thats all.

ANyways, i want to restore it, but also make it a little more interesting. What are some cool things i could add/do to make this a little out of the box (haha). Planning on soda blasting it all, and painting it wrinkle red with black drawers. But again, wanna dd some cool features to it.

I can weld, do small fabrication, have acess to free chrome plating, etc. Just looking for a cool small roll box.

I can get pics up tomorrow. Having back spams(no leaving the couch), and takign enough happy pills to solve the issue! :lol_hitti

Thanks for the welcome!

On topic, im thinking doing it up like a older style hot rod. Matte black, matte white and red pin striping. Custom casters with matte red wheels, and white wall tires!

I dig the pinstriping idea myself. The whitewalls would be different for sure.Go crazy with it. I have an old Craftsman box I keep my pinstriping stuff in that I went wild with a few years back. I'm not really good but for an ameture it looks neat, and the best part is it's just paint if you don't like it sand it off and do it again!!

I had an idea....... do a fade job on it!! I haven't ever seen a toolbox done like that but I think it would definitely be different.

I brainstormed an idea taking notes from my friends dads harley. A metallic orange on the top 1/3rd. then satin black on the bottom 3rd. with a silver pinstripe seperating?

May be a little down the road, but i think thatd look sweet.

Well, got bored and antsy today. Decided to go at it with a 400 da.

Turned out pretty ****** awesome for a spray bomb job in my opinion... And yes, i (quickly) wetsanded and polished/wax. Copper is just too beautiful a color to not have max gloss!

Copper gloss on top. Satin black bottom. once its all finished ill add a silver pinstripe to break up the colors.

Before:

Glossiness: (doesnt show real color, but does show some sheen!)

This shows the color a bit better:

Not bad for a 10 dollar spray bomb job on a 20 dollar box...

Still gotta do the drawers, but theyll probably be put off for a while.
