Hey guys I found this great deal online today. This is a great box, I own one my self, at a great price. It has a really interesting drawer configuration that I prefer over a deep center drawer.

Here is a link to my show me your toolbox thread post #12179
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3869620#post3869620
I took out one of my drawers to get a shot of the drawer slides and the bottom of the hangers for the 9 drawers on top.

America. Made in Waterloo, Iowa
I hate to break it to you but it's not made/sold by the US Waterloo company.

If you look at the picture, the emblem shows Waterloo with Euro Series in small print.

A Google search for Waterloo Euro Series shows that Holt Waterloo makes it.

http://www.holtwaterloo.com/?pid=7&grp=7&page=Waterloo Euro Series

Clicking on About US at the bottom brings up a description of the company with this blurb- "The Holt Waterloo Office and AmPro Showroom is located in the central business district of Shanghai. "

This link is slightly more satisfying http://www.waterlooindustries.com/about-waterloo/locations

And really not in Iowa anymore, but at least they still manufacture some in the US.

http://www.waterlooindustries.com/about-waterloo/history I like the first photo on the right with the shirtless dude standing in front of his lathe. Those were the old days!

The FREE Ship-To-Store is also available if you call in the order to a live customer service rep. I did that for compressor and will be delivered to nearby Northern Tool store. The website only allows one promo code, and it counts the ship-to-store as a promo.

Nice toolbox OP. Thanks for posting.

Your pics show ball bearing slides, but the Northern description says friction slides. Sure it's the same as yours? Nice deal if it is.

The northern tool site seems to differ to the description found on Waterloos site as well for the same model number. NT lists the drawers as being 1.5" deep. The waterloo site shows it having a bunch of 2" and one 3" deep drawers.

I suppose the fact that my box is a Traxx series means it has ball bearings. Its still the same box. And to the discrepancy in the drawer sizes, do the math at 1.5" and 2" the total space for the drawers is 12.5" the top doesn't look 6"5 inches deep to make up the rest of the 19" hight.

Actually the holt waterloo site says the slides are full extension compound slides, witch are three piece ball bearing slides. IMHO because holt waterloo does not call them ball bearing northern assumed they were friction slide.

IT IS THE SAME DANG BOX!!! And with that I'm done defending my post. Had I known I would need to be a representative for what ever company happens to sell the product that is a HOT DEAL! 600$ top box for 150$ I would have never bothered.

I wasn't criticizing it at all. I think it seems like a good buy and when I look up the model number the Waterloo site it seems the box in question is exactly like yours. I have one on order. I bought the Dewalt stack but I really do not need another tool box. I really need something like this with smaller drawers for a secondary box.

Hey, OP, I bought one also on your recommendation. I hadn't imagined that asking a reasonable question could be interpreted as criticism of you. Sorry.

I didn't say anyone was criticizing. I was only stating that it is a lot of work fact checking and following up after you post. I think I know more about the history of the box than I ever cared to know. I was visiting sites from the Netherlands and using Google to translate information. This was my first post to this section and boy its a lot of work. No hard feeling, Kinda gave me something to do between doing things I'm doing to avoid doing the things I'm supposed to do. In a way that looks like it was really angry.

Are all the little drawers considered a plus? You guys like to open all the little drawers? Seems like one large drawer could be divided and be more versatile than 3 little drawers.

Are these real questions or rhetorical?

The 9 drawers on top are a plus to me.

I can't get my tools out of the drawers if I don't open them, now can I?

Call them up and tell them that you like big drawers and to never make small drawers again.

I bet all garage Journal members bought them. I bought my Winco 6000he Duel fuel generator at NortherTool for 499. Its a $2000 dollar generator. They had 15 of them nationwide at that price and one guy was trying to buy all 15 in some other state. They let me have one of them because I was the only other one that noticed the price. Even the people working at the store were dumb founded by the price that the gentleman and I had noticed on their website. I'm even more surprised that they honored the price. I had to order it over the company phone in the store with a resident sales person from the store I was in doing the order to the warehouse. Huge ordeal but it finally shipped to the store and walked away like I robbed the place.

Didn't I include pics of my organization of my box?. That would consist of the positives that I enjoy about the box. For the rest of your comment. How you perceive something and how things are is not well represented in text form over the internet.

For one make your own decisions. Do I need to hold your hand when you look at a thread in the hot deals section? No. If the small drawers are not your thing, don't buy it. Asking me to convince you on why you would want this box would make me a rep now wouldn't it? This is why your perceived defensiveness come from. Are you trying to make me look bad because my post wasn't up to your scrutinizing investigatory standerds?

The Waterloo website provides definitions:

"Compound Action Slides: See friction slides."

"Friction Slides: Drawers are supported by a slide in which metal slides over metal. Also referred to as compound action or standard slides."

I'll be picking mine up tomorrow, weather permitting. I'll post the details of what NT was selling when I get it home.

Feel free to comment on my post tomorrow and I promise not to be as thin-skinned as others posting in this thread have been. Kind of ruins the usual positive vibe this site has when this kind of stuff happens.

Got mine. OK price. I prefer the $75 Kobalt top box with roller bearings I got at Christmas. No way this is close to a $600 box though.

I heard they were made in Sedalia Mo. but USA is close enough for me to be interested. Problem is I don't need another tool box. They do look good though.

So, what was the final verdict, ball-bearing slides or not?

USA COO or not?

Absolutely no indication anywhere of COO. It is from the Euro Style series, and not ball bearing, just friction slides, so not like the OP's box at all. Good guage metal. Too much of a hassle to return, so I'll keep it, but I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew then what I know now. (The older I get, the more occasions I have to say that.)
