Brand spankin new on here how are y'all doin?
My question is about my box I got for free from my neighbor who was just throwing it out into the trash and asked if I could have it
I've had the box a couple years now and love it
So what peaked my interest was seeing a similar design box on Facebook with a snapon tag on it
My handles look very similar but after researching I found the forum and that my box isn't a snap on
Could anyone here possibly give me some info on it?

Welcome to GJ! Waterloo makes Proto boxes. I have that box and it's great! You'll have that box for a lifetime if you take care of it. Could you ask your neighbor if he's throwing out any bottom boxes? I could use one.....

Waterloo made boxes under their own name, as well as for Proto, NAPA, Craftsman and many others. Top quality box and they still support them with parts.

I've got that same box, definitely a waterloo. Does anyone know of a source for emblems for these old boxes? Waterloo or proto preferred. Thanks.

A good way to give a rough guide on age is to attach a pic or two of the drawers open, so we can see the slides. Older boxes use tangs to hold the slides in while newer (lesser) ones have tabs you have to bend in and out to get the slides off.

pic is blurry, but I would say it's a mid 70s waterloo.
could be a waterloo, proto, mac, Blackhawk or other brands.
all were the same. waterloo made but w/ different badges on the right side of the bottom drawer.

I had a proto exactly like that(maybe, like I said, the pic is blurry)

new pix i'm gonna say still waterloo, but later than the 70s.
the fold of the metal at the top till is square, so 80s or later.
the drawer layout and drawer handles scream waterloo. but.....
the side handles look 80s snap-on or MBC :dunno:
snap-on boxes had a cover that was part of the lid that covered the drawers when shut.

Looks very similar to a Waterloo set I recently picked up, mine is a 1970. Open the top lid on the box, and look on the floor of the top shelf to the left....should be stamped with the date of manufacture. Its usually not stamped very deeply, so its easy to miss.

It was pretty rusty when I got it
I'll have to look Monday when I get back home and put stuff away so I don't forget it at my parents lol
