I need to pass a 1/4" (OD) electrical cable through the 8mm-thick wooden siding of my shed (from an exterior LED floodlight to indoor power source). I've seen some black plastic "glands" on Amazon that look like they'd work, but there is not enough thread on the inside. Rather then remove some of the wood on the inside, are there any similar joints that would offer a longer thread? Thanks.

What kind of wire, romex? Is it entering the light through a junction box? I'd honestly just drill a hole, pass it through, and caulk around the wire.

+1

Drill the hole so that it slopes down towards the outside. If the wire runs down from the hole, then great. If not, then install a drip loop before going up or across.

Mount a weatherproof box “Bell Box” on the wall and bring the power into the back of the box, then you can use the bottom hub of the box for the connector then use the appropriate cover. It is not permitted to pass a cord through the wall.

Unless the OP is talking about low voltage, which he most likely is.

Sorry, I'm not sure what SO cable is. And this is not low-voltage - it's 110v Here is the Amazon listing:

Amazon Link

It comes with a 3-pin plug and in-line rocker switch. I am planning to hard-wire it to the 110v circuit inside the shed, with a remote switch to control it from in the house. So I was going to cut just upstream of the in-line switch, feed into shed, and then connect to 110v circuit in a junction box.

Are you saying it would be better to place an outdoor junction box next to the light, which is where I would join it with the Romex and would also provide the hole in the siding?

A lot of floodlights LED,or HID, use cord to power it, it depends on the design and they do not have attachment plugs.
