I'm getting a 40x80x14 shop built later this year. I got some quotes for doors from the door installer the builder uses. There will be three 12x12 insulated doors and two 12x12 uninsulated doors. The shop has two rooms, only one will be heated. The insulated doors will get jackshaft openers, the uninsulated ones will be manual. For the insulated doors they are quoting Wayne Dalton CX-2400 or Thermospan 125 for $2k more. This is the first time I've bought garage doors and I know nothing. Are these doors any good?

I have to ask why only 2 insulated doors?
I would think any insulation between unheated and heated space to be a plus.

The three insulated doors are on the insulated part of the building. The uninsulated doors are on the uninsulated part of the building.

I thought "there will be two rooms, only one will be heated" made it obvious but I guess not.

Ah I was thinking the other set were inside dividing conditioned from unconditioned space like a front half back half design

WD CX24xx should be a uninsulated 24 gauge steel commercial door, we had those on the truck shop they are a decent heavy door and can be welded back together if need be.

I'd go look at the specific model door he quoted. I asked for an insulated door when we had this house built. He said cool, we use Wayne Dalton. Well yeah it is insulated but it is only about an inch thick. Insulated doors on previous houses were more like 2inches thick.
