Does any boby have a Wayne-Dalton 9100 series garage door with a Chamberlain 3/4-HP opener?

The garage door installer is having issues with the above combination, it binds when the door is closed. He stated that it has the wrong top bracket.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have 2 9100 doors on my year old building, I don't have any openers on them.
I have had no problems with them, I'm not sure what bracket he is talking about.
Try unhooking the opener and try the door to see if it binds.
Maybe the track is to close to each other on the bottom.

Could be something as simple as top fixtures mounted in the wrong holes, causing them to bind against door jambs or header, top fixtures are adjustable, but you would think an Installer would know that! :headscrat

No, there should be no issues with that combination.

Post some pics - I'm sure we can figure it out...

wrong bracket at top of door. Wayne-Dalton mailed me a replacement. It was too long and didn't sit flush, and caused the top panel to twist when closing..

Thanks

If you have a 16 ft wide door (like the Wayne Dalton I have), mine did this when one of the torsion springs broke. You can't see them because they are enclosed -- if you have this type of torsion spring:

You can test the garage door by disconnecting it from the garage door opener with the pull cord (with the door in the closed position). Have someone push the door opener so the latch goes back to the open position, but disconnected from the door.

If both springs are operating properly, you should be able to lift the garage door half way easily. It should be balanced by the torsion springs, so that it stays half-opened where you lift it. If you need to support it, one of your torsion springs is likely broken, and you are getting the counterweight force only on one side of the door.
