C'mon, you know you've thought about it.

Out of all the oils, fluids, liquids in the garage, WD-40 is the one I don't mind stinking of when I'm done working :)

They could market it as, "WD-40, the cologne for the man who isn't afraid of being a man"

After I come in from working on the car, my wife can't keep her hands off of me! She says that the combined smells of grease, WD40 & hand cleaner just drives her crazy for me!!! Bring in on, just don't let her know that I have made up a jar just to use after I'm just hanging out, Ha.

hmm .. race gas is too chemically for me. Jaynuke, you're a lucky guy. My wife normally says, "You smell of garage, go shower and put your clothes in the laundry bag".

I'm not allowed to put my 'garage' clothes in the family laundry machine :) I have to do weekly laundry at the local laundromat, which is fine with me because the thought of oil and grease contaminated clothes in the laundry that cost us a pretty penny isn't too appealing to me either.

With your smarts I think the GJ should move you to senior member 'cause I never thought about making up a jar so that I can fool my wife. I guess Im not as wise as I thought.

My wife life's garage smell on me as well. Don't know if it would have the same affect if I tried to wear it to a formal dinner with friends.

WD 40 smells nice, but Tri Flow smells even better.

I swear that stuff smells like bananas.

However, I have an old can of liquid wrench laying around - it's sort of black coming out. Smells horrible, wretched stuff.

certain permatex have a weird but interesting odor to them. mix them with a like solvent and race gas and you might have something.

For some reason my ex GF had a thing for diesel. Might have just been because I was running biodiesel in the truck (soy oil). My truck smelt like french fries all the time.

Truth!

I like the smell of grey permatex RTV myself. I use that over black just because of the smell!

Hoppe's #9 smells pretty good too, IMO. Makes my hands smell like it when I clean my guns.

This is hilarious. It's not a shop related odor, but I'm a huge fan of the smell of play-doh.

Kroil, Hoppes #9 or automotive paint.

Burnt gear oil seems to be a woman repellent around here!

Gear 90 seems to be the one I use the most. I will bring ring gears in the house and cook them in the oven for a few minutes, to make install and alignment easier. There was a time I would get yelled at. Now she shakes her head with no words. Nothing like baked potatoes with a hint of gear 90, sour cream, and cheese.

SprayAway glass cleaner smells awesome, a lot better than used (or new) gear oil. :D
Man, that's the stuff I think smells the worst.

Way back in the '60s when I was first married and wrenching for a living, WD40 was a new product and I got some on me while working. Got home that night and my new bride wouldn't have a thing to do with me. She thought it was someone else's perfume and I couldn't convince her. I had to go get a spray can and show her.

My favorite smell is burning rubber. As in dragster burnout.

My favorite is used gear oil....I know....I'm weird.

glad i ain't the only one...gear oil, lil bit of motor oil and gas mixed together remind me of my grandpa...that and the smell of old rusty flat iron being cut by an oxy torch

VP C16. When I pull the car into the garage I'll leave it running for 10-15 seconds just to make the garage smell beautiful.

At least, that will give some use for WD40 as I'm not using this stuff anymore since I've tried the Pl-100 from Prolab !

As for the best smells, I got it out of a sealant I've used for block to head on a Volvo motor. It was a red liquid that smell so good that it was hard not trying to actually taste it !
