WD I-Drive opener installation

I have a question about these. Are they to be used in conjunction with torsion spring, or without? I know my current door and conventional Genie opener still use them.

The reason I'm asking is, with most openers, you can install them any time after the door is up. But with the I-Drive, it would seem to be a much bigger hassle to do after the fact, as you would have to R&R one of the torsion springs (if they are still needed).

From what I have researched, they can be used with existing doors and torsion springs but are a different unit than the ones designed for WD doors.

I'm also looking to go this route.

It is not necessary to disassemble anything.

The torsion drive opener clamps right over the shaft. You can easily complete the job in 2 hours - depending on your mechanical ability.

I had mine installed by the Wayne Dalton certified tech because I heard it was a tough job - but after watching him - it was not as difficult as reported...
