Our offer was accepted and now we're waiting on the VA appraisal/inspection. That should pass with flying colors the house was built in '06.

It's on 18 acres and has outbuildings and a shop. The shop is small for what I wanted but I can always add on in the future or build another small shop to keep wood working under a seperate roof.
The shop is 24'X36' and it's just waiting for me to get started making it mine. I should have some pictures tomarow I'll post them (if I can figure out how) tomarow night.

Not to throw a wrench in your plans, but last I checked (2007) a VA appraisal could only consider up to five acres of land. I hope the other 13 acres value does not effect your financing. Good luck! Ryan

Congrats! I close on my new house August 30th. It's a 3,000 sq. ft., 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath with a 23x36 garage on 2 flat acres, 3 miles outside of a little country town. It has a (looks to be 14x18 pole barn as well. Not exactly South Fork, but it's the best I can do and it's much bigger than the 1600 sq. ft. 3 bedroom we left. I finally have room for a nice shop with all the stuff I didn't have room for in my little single car.

I finally opened a photobucket account to get pics on here. it's easy and free and seems to work the best for me.

I'll delete this post once you get some pics up.
PM me if you still need some help after the photobucket sign-up.

24x36 is HUGE!

Please spare us and use a host other than Photobucket. Between being over quota and piles of **** loading on their site should you go to view a picture otherwise, there are better options. Imageshack isn't perfect, but I have good luck with it.

I have used Photobucket for almost 10 years now. Though I had some issues with the recent "upgrade" it is still the easiest out there to use. Most people will not have issues with bandwidth of the free version, and if they do it is $19 a year to upgrade. So, please don't promote that useless and hard to use Imageshack piece of ****. I hate that damn thing!

Congrats on the purchase! Sounds like enough acreage to keep the neighbors away, so I am jealous!

I use imageshack.us for an image hoster. They have a nice little app so I don't have to go through their website.

Just upload your pics here and be done with it. No more blank screen with a message that the site has exceeded bandwidth, no message that the account has been closed, etc. Upload here, they stay here. I sometimes link to pics found elsewhere on the web, but I do not have a photo hosting service, all of my other pics for GJ are on this site. I frequently go back and link to them in future threads when the discussion warrants.

At the bottom of the quick reply screen, click the "go advanced" button, then on the next screen, scroll down to the additional options box and click on the "manage attachments" button and upload them.

Good luck on the purchase but I'm retracting my offer to help with your pictures.

Why would you retract your offer to help a fellow member ? The OP hasn't posted anything to bash your advice or offer. A few other members have but not the OP. :dunno:

As much as I hate to admit it, PB is getting better than they were when they were doing the changeover and upgrade.

For the OP, I hope you get your approval. I do think there is a limit on acreage, or atleast there used to be IIRC. If there is, I believe you can do it through other means with assistance of the VA , like the USDA mentioned.

The photopost guys are so much better than I am at it. My "works best for me" was inadequate. I am no expert and photodrops may be considerably more complicated than what I know.

Who cares what the experts think, I'm sure the OP would appreciate the help and advice.

Looks like we are neighbors!
We are in Mulino (off Beavercreek).
We also have a pole barn (30x 34). Trying to figure out how to use it.

Holy crud! Normally I post stuff and I get crickets! I should've checked on this earlier.
So, as far as photobucket, I know nothing about this stuff, I asked on another forum (SVT Performance) how to get pic's on their site and there were more people chiming in for photo bucket so that's how I chose. Would be happy do get another account if I could get suggestions. For me, getting pic's on photobucket is like an Indiana Jones movie.

The VA appraisal went well initially. There werent any red flags up front, which is a good thing. But it all depends on what the VA thinks the place is worth. The appraisal is there to make sure a vet doesnt get ripped off and for that Im thankful but man do I have knots in the stomach.
SO PLEASE!! Recomend a picture hosting place so I can post these pictures! I'd love to show it off.

The place is perfect for me, it is all the space 18 acres can give you, but it's not all usable so it priced out at less than half of that. All but 5 acres or so is in timber that is about 15 years old, so it's got at least another 15 years before it can be harvested, but Im in no rush, I cant wait to get some privacy. My "neighbors", enjoy lighting off fire works when they hear me going out into the back yard. At first I thought it was a fluke but then I heard them yelling to go grab the fire works when I came out side. My wife wrote an article (that I didnt know about) in the local paper about vets with ptsd and brain injuries and they just get a big kick out of sending me sprawlling and running back in doors.
I cant wait to be on my own land.

So, just to make sure, if I join photo bucket and pay $19.00 a year, it's easier to load pictures and there's no adds and **** popping up when someone wants to view the pictures?

Im thinking of using the smallest shop, 24x36ish, as a garage since it's the closest to the house and finishing the 36x33 pole barn into a shop. Besides money, one of my concerns is getting power for the machines I want to buy to put in there. We'll see how it goes.

I cant recall acuratley what the limits were in the past, but now anything over 5 acres is taken on a case by case basis. They put a hard and fast rule on anything over 20 acres. If it's under 20 acres but over 5 (according to my understanding which is suspect at best) the VA wants to make sure the land is NOT being used for income. No Christmass trees, no farming, no ranching as a means of income. Appearantly it's really hard to get other funding for a working property. My property will bring in income every 30-40 years, so it's not a big concern (hoping hoping hoping). At least that's how I remember it, but I've been known to not no what day of the week, or month, it is.

Yes definaltey! All help and advice is regarded highly. This place is full of people like me trying to do the same things I want to do, in their own way. There's a **** ton of folk out there that want a condo with their own parking spot. No yard, no nothing. Those are the kind of people that are hard to understand to me. This site is awesome.

You know it was a good day when you gotta scrub the hands with Lava soap and a brush before you can go into the house.

Photobucket (PB) used to be free for so much bandwidth. If you used more than that, you had to upgrade to a Pro acct. I upgraded mine a few years back, when I started posting a bunch of pictures with my refurb thread. They went through a tough time and all the users suffered from a switch to Beta, which wasn't ready to use. It appears they have everything worked out for the most part. I seriously considered switching to another host but I had about 1K pics uploaded, currently, I believe I'm over 1400.

If PB is free, I'd recommend it to atleast get going posting pictures. If you find that it doesn't work for you, you can always switch to some other place.

BTW, with a screen name like you have and waiting on the VA, I guess it's safe to say that you're a vet. You might want to check out the second and 3rd link in my sig.
