Are Wera screwdrivers made for automotive work? Just curious. I've always seen them in electronics stores, which seems more light duty than automotive. I've never owned any myself, but they are good looking screwdrivers.

I do electrical work, and some of my own auto. I was just thinking that maybe that was why the gription was wearing off on the Wera's. I'm in a lot of different electrical / electronics shops, and those are were I see Wera.

The laser tips on some of my Snap On's are worn down also. I ordered a set of Wera insulated screwdrivers off Amazon, but got lost in shipping. They sent me another set and the same day they arrived, so did the lost set. So now I keep one in work for precision/live electrical repairs and the other set at home for the same thing. As mentioned, the rounded handles don't provide as much torque as square handles or the Snap On instinct handles. All in all, the Weras are decent screwdrivers, but the laser tips do wear quickly with regular use. Quicker than others? I couldn't say.

I use mostly Klein screwdrivers, but have a nice set of Matcos that I got free 20 years ago when I was installing 6 robots in one of their plants (Vermont America BTW) and they have been great automotive screwdrivers. But I haven't used any with the laser gription tips.

I bought my screwdrivers expecting to have to replace them at some point. Not being a more than a weekend tinkerer on average though, my Williams (philips has acr tips) and Kleins have yet to be replaced after more than just a few years use.

nothing light duty about anything from WERA , all pro or industrial quality with a bit of up to date design.
The allen keys are incredible strong and long lasting, screwdrivers are up there also, don't hesitate .
And the mini ratcheting driver is absolutely amazing
@Bixxjs ... there are sets you can buy . I buy only PH sets , pz-s are woodworkers only and I prefer not to have them laying around

They're good tools! More of a good "mid range" tool in my opinion, but good nonetheless!
Main gripe for automotive work is the soft handles. They pick up oil and grease, then grit, and just get wrecked unless you use them just for clean work!
Probably fine if you assemble electronic widgets for a living, but need a bit of care otherwise!
And yes, you're right about the Pozidrivs! Wiha offer sets with either PH or PZ according to what you do. I only ever see Phillips on Japanese cars these days, everything else I work on, woodwork, metalwork or engineering has PZ, and I have a load of useless Phillips drivers laying around that have usually come in sets!
The Wera Pozi are nice though. I have some of the Stainless ones, and yes I do use them on woodworking screws, but mainly because I don't want to trash my best drivers. They are lasting very well!

I tried using Wiha and Wera for electrical work. I consider the slotted screwdrivers a fail for electrical work. The philips screwdrivers are just as good or better than Klein. The metric slotted screwdrivers are just not right for electrical fittings and connectors and such. Maybe Wiha and Wera should adopt SAE screwdriver sizes...
There are two kinds of countries... those who use metric, and those who have been to the moon.
For home use, I use Wiha, Wera, Snap-on, and Klein. I prefer the Wiha, usually. But even at home, Klein works better in slotted SAE screws and fittings. A lot of electrical devices and fittings have gone to hybrid Robertson/philips.

That exact set is my GO TO everyday screwdrivers now. I did buy a few larger Philips singles ... along with a #3 Pozi. Also snagged a #4 Philips. They are attached to the side of my 5 drawer HF cart.
Love the wera so much... I switched to their individual driver bits as well.
