Where is the best place to buy this stuff in bulk? I am looking at websites and so far Waytek seems to have the most reasonable prices, but I know plenty of you guys buy this stuff or use it in your jobs, where would you suggest?

I am also interested in anderson plugs and other 12 volt type connections.

Thanks!

I did see mouser, but the prices seemed a lot higher than waytek. I had originally bought one of the kits on eBay, but after seeing the bulk prices, I can get a lot more value for my money buying bulk.

I can see if you only needed one or two it would be better to go through mouser. As an example a 2 pin weather-pack is $1.55 at mouser (you can buy one) and at waytek it is 53 cents (but you must buy 20). The minimums vary by part, but if trying to outfit your supplies it would be a good way to go. I have been watching ebay for bulk deals and I find them from time to time, but usually it is those kits and they are way overpriced for what I want.

If ordering in bulk, Waytek is cheaper. Shipping is slow and stupid expensive for any small orders. For small stuff use mouser or digikey.

Also I use terminalsandconnecters.com, mixed pricing some cheaper and some more expensive. But you already need part numbers because it isn’t user friendly and can’t really browse

Did you take a look at Del City Wire? I've bought wholesale from them for years, seem to be very reasonable with a good selection

What do you use for connectors if weatherpack is not good enough? Just curious, I have had very few issues with anything I have done.

i moved to the Amphenol DT plugs. more money but more compact, no water issues that i have had in the past, just a general better connector, but that comes at a higher price tag.

The amphenol plugs look nice, a lot of what I am doing is repairs to existing connectors, but I am always open to new styles. Seems like molex has decent ones too.

used del city last time, at the time I believe that was the cheapest price I could find.

I used Mouser recently, but very small quantities. Other than Waytek, here are two other places that I had found online:
http://terminalsupplyco.com/Connectors.aspx

https://www.whiteproducts.com/metri-pack.shtml
Your first link, Terminal Supply Company, is an excellent supplier. They're not exactly Regular-Joe friendly however, but I think anyone can set up an account with them. You won't find any pricing online until you have an account, which isn't possible to just do online. They also don't have their full selection online, you need the catalog to see everything they have. All that said, I've slowly begun to transition to them away from Waytek. They have some of the best fine strand cable around and at a good price.

Strouty, don't you prefer Romex and wire nuts for your 12V wiring?

I'm just poking at ya, ha ha. I'm glad to see you asking about Metripack, Anderson connectors and such.

You've said often that your methods using household type electrical supplies have been reliable for you, has that changed?

I get if your limited to what came on the application but weatherpack is pretty dated, metripack is better though usually found as the receptacle on components like sensors, ignition coils, etc.

I would avoid Weatherpack, they can be troublesome as they have low mating cycle (plug/unplug count before signal degradation), the waterproofing isn't very good, and the pin retention system is pretty crappy.

If you are replacing both sides of a connector or building a harness from scratch I would recommend Deutsch DT or DTM system. You can find licensed Amphenol and Molex Deutsch-compatible connectors as well. The Amphenol brand is found easily and is a bit cheaper. They are superior connectors and comparable in cost

My freightliner has a lot of the Deutsch connectors. I will most likely end up with a large assortment of brands, I would like to be able to repair or add on to most anything that I find.

As for the romex and wire nuts, my ABS sensors kept getting sketchy and the injectors would not fire reliably.

Terminal Supply is who I use for the day job, there’s also Digi-Key but I don’t know if they carry Weatherpack or Deutsch.

Another upvote for Terminal Supply Company, I dealt with them for years when I was in parts, I still have a personal account with them to boot...

I have used powersignal, mouser, and terminalsandconnectors

I feel like cross referencing and determining correct PNs is the worst part of the process.

I agree getting the actual part numbers can be a PITA. I have started acquiring the catalogs from the manufacturers, that is the best way to find the connectors.

Ain't that true - I recently replaced my headlights and had to make an adapter harness from the 9006 female to the new headlight assembly. I spent hours trying to find the actual PN of what most people refer to as 9006 male connector. In fact, I'm not sure it was even in the Delphi online catalog.

I just gave up looking and bought "extenders" to cut up and splice in. Crude, but it got the rig back on the road.

In the past I've got them from mouser and newark.

If I have months of time and want knockoffs for peanuts I order from aliexpress. There are a lot of odd OE connector copies on there.

I wish Deutsch was the standard. Love them, easy to replace and easy to install. I have a ton of troubleshooting leads and such made up with them for work

I ordered a bunch of metri pack 280 pieces from waytek a while back. Very good prices but the minimum piece count was a pain. Some items the minimum was 10 of the male body’s but 25 of the female bodys. Same with the cable locks. So I ended up with way more then needed but I’m set for awhile.

Honestly, I was thinking the minimums would allow me to resell a bunch on ebay, possibly make up some kits and make a bit of money.

I use the metri pack gt150 a lot. Can handle a decent amount of current and is pretty small. There is a dedicated crimper for them also that does wire and seal together. Not as easy as deutsch solid pins but a fraction of the price. For more current gt280 but no dedicated crimper I can find.

I pretty much stopped using Deutsch/copies. The price is too insane. Connectors way too large for the current rating. Not enough terminals unless using cannon style.

Waytek has the mcon style connectors now that newer gm uses. I got few two pins from mouser a while back and could be good connector system if I find the correct crimper.

The minimums at Waytek aren’t too bad except for the mismatched male/female quantities. I usually order more than the set quantities anyways.

I don't know about metripack gt, but here's the crimper that I used for regular metripack, $22.95 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SG-Tool-Aid-18910-Terminal-Crimper-for-Weather-Pack-Metri-Pack-Terminal-/401291149346?hash=item5d6ed10022

That tool you have reminds me of my Sargent 1028 CT for open barrel connectors.
