hello there! i am currently building a 32x40 shop that will have a 10x16 office in it. i am planning to install a mini split in the office (what size would be right for this? thinking around 15k btu), but i would like to be able to remotely turn the unit on and off and set the temperature via the web. are there any solutions that work to this end thay anyone knows of? i am not locked down to a brand, so my options are open.

i use a honeywell wifi tstat in the house and i love it... i would love similar functionality in my shop also.

I would be surprised if it would do anything but turn the unit on and off. All of the manuf have proprietary electronic controls that cannot be interfaced with, unless the system is manuf by that OEM. My Fujitsu's will re-start after a power outage, but that is about the only interface I can think of.

I have a Mr Slim and recently added their "wireless programmable controller kit MHK1" ($258) for my 'office'. It's more like a traditional programmable thermostat that you can place anywhere versus just the hand held remote.

I don't have any experience with it - but I believe you need "RedLink"

Mobile Control
With an optional RedLINK internet gateway, a unit connected to an MHK1 kit may be managed remotely on a personal computer, smartphone, or tablet, giving you complete control over your mini split system no matter where you are.

I *think* this what you would need in addition wireless thermostat to get internet access - the Internet Gateway for $80. And it is Honeywell

I bought everything through eComfort and found them to be very helpful. (They will even do the calculations and recommend a size for you). I would suggest you call or email them
